Lakes camping trip. Aug 21st/22nd

Featured Replies

No plan survives contact with the enemy ..... sorry for not getting there but I had a bit of a crappy day.

Took my daughter horseriding in the afternoon and on the way out and up to the M6 to catch up with you got a double puncture. No major drama's but some bit of road debris took out 2 offside tyres.

Skoda assist came out and recovered me back to a local tyre place, both tyres had damage to the sidewalls so between a rock and a hard place parted with £200 for a pair of new P6000's.

Apologies for letting the side down folks...

I wondered how we didn't manage to break a car this time! glad you're ok, was a great weekend, had fun both nights, amazed we survived the weather, both nights warm and clear when we were out, but pouring rain when we were asleep! :D may be next year for the next one, but I'll be up in scotland Davey (no swmbo or HC then tho) and I may be able to make oxon Paul, our lass will try to get the Friday off, if she cant its a bit far for one night, but we'll try! just a couple of pics.....

some exotic cars  thanks to Ian for the Sat drive, thanks to his friend for letting me drive the MX5 , great fun! Sorry for overtaking the other one so often, but it was sooooo slow... :D shame I didn't get to drive this....

Tony, I know how you feel mate. But a least I managed to get there last time.....

The Briskoda curse..........

Hi all we left by 3pm after the site flooded, we walked into town shortly after you all left and the rain came down that hard that even our waterproofs couldnt keep us dry. Later on the dog was shivering and we couldnt get the dog warm, along with the muddy paddling pool inside the tent and huge paddling pools on the hill we were in things just got worse. The road at the bottom of the slope was under water and where the streams went under the roads on the way up to the toilets this too was underwater.

As we got back to the car after getting our deposit for the site key we were stopped by the cleaner on site wanting to know if we were going to go back and remove the table of which i told her it wasnt ours and we didnt know who's it was so therefore leaving it there in case someone else wanted to use it. She wasnt happy and took my reg number down not that i care as the water was already up to my ankles near the table. She didnt beleive me and i dont care :P

Anyway on the plus side it was great weather on the saturday, i took the dog for a walk along the lake which he enjoyed, nice views and my daughter has a new friend being Nicole so not everything was bad!!!

and here is the youtube video of the kids doing granny went to walmart game... the only time they will be allowed to use the words they did

sorry to hear it was flooded out... its still raining here now! I think Nicole has just added Jade to her facebook lol....

Sounds like a good time had by all, shame the weather ruined it a bit, I in fact could have come down now!

Well had a great time guys! Glad I made it now... even though it was very last minute!

Got home about 4pm yesterday after stopping in Lancaster for fuel and food.

Thanks to Brian for sorting out the camp fires and for the bacon butty!!

I managed a whopping 41mpg for the whole trip. lol

cheers dave, as soon as you left jade was like "whats their surname i forgot to ask and now cant add her" in a worried upset way lol.

MPG was about 34mpg when i got home, but that included being stuck in 2nd and 3rd around the lake roads and making as much progress as possible down the motorway with a full boot, 2 passengers and a dog and any available space in the car full of camping stuff.

Just washed the car and have now packed the tent away which dried out overnight.

Now planning where to go this week now we back at base as all i wanted to do yesterday was get the dog and family home as the dog was shivering, so didnt bother moving onto derbyshire or shropshire as planned.

Still nice to meet everyone and we both would like to pass on our best wished to phil and sven for this coming weekend!!

It's next August bank holiday... but thanks! hehe

Thanks to you as well for letting me sample your yummy home brew cider! :D

Glad you all had a good time, would've been nice to camp but thoroughly enjoyed the drive on the Saturday. Nice not to be held up too much for a change.

Yep Paul's home brew cider is super in half a cup half a cup lol!

it certainly helps with any sleep problems
