WARNING!! Extreme Hardcore XXX Brake Porn enclosed!!!

Featured Replies

Some of you know that I sold the R32 brakes that I was going to fit to my Octavia.

Some of you saw the replacements that were scheduled for fitting.

Some of you will be envious.

Some of you (OK, just Tisha) can't understand the point of big brakes.

But for those of you that can......

Behold.

Spec as follows:

350mm disc (not a VAG part emoticon-0102-bigsmile.gif)

Porsche 996 Turbo front calipers

EBC Redstuff Ceramic pads (not usually a fan but I'll give them a go)

Goodridge S/S hoses (thanks Goodridge)

Mounted with a custom made carrier (Thanks DaveB)

15mm H&R hubcentric spacer (wheels are 8J ET50)

A couple of observations:

a) Porsche anti-squeal shims are as much use as a chocolate fireguard. It sounds like a Bus

emoticon-0103-cool.gif It is unwise to go "brake testing" with 24 cans of Pepsi Max in the boot, with the seats folded down

c) It stops. A lot.

d) They look fooking excellent too, bonus

For info, that's a 19" wheel they are behind. Unfortunately they do not fit behind my 17" track wheels (by literally a couple of mm, typical) so if you have anything 8x17 ET35 or possibly ET40 let me know.

So what do you reckon?

They look sweet. To do them full justice you should have washed the wheels:rotz:

Yes yes, the wheels are dirty. So is the car. As I'll be giving it a proper clean before the trackday on Saturday and it's been raining for the best part of the last three days I didn't think there was much point. thebrymar knows how clean the paintwork is under that dirt and for those worried about my wheels, don't worry they have two coats of wheel sealant on them  The key looking after black paint is never to do half a job and so it only gets washed when I have the time to do it properly.

As for carbon ceramic... there's no pleasing some people is there?! :p

I really really like these alot. Time to upgrade the clio! (Joke) :D

TEE HEE HEE :orb_faint
