The old ones were silent and despite copious amounts of copper grease, these squeal like hell!!!

Hopefully they'll be better once they're bedded in.

I've got no squeal at all from the EBC red ceramics.

Did you follow the EBC bed in instructions or the stop tech ones?

Mine were very slightly noisy at very low speeds until the bed in coating had gone, but otherwise nothing

I have to ask why is there a load of what looks like filler covering where I'd usually expect the vents to be in the middle of the disc?

Put the copper grease on the disc. No more squealing.;)

Welcome to the 6 pot club

Hope you get the squeel sorted, my Compbrakes are silent.

Are they the correct way round as the larger piston should be on the trailing edge? The setup on the 911 turbo is the oposite way round with the calipers being on the other side of the disc. This means that although your bleed nipples are correctly pointing upwards, on the Octavia this could result in the pistons being reversed with the largest piston now being on the leading edge. This could also be the cause of squeel and will give vast amounts of pad taper.

My advice is always get brakes designed for the car and the master cylinder but the Porsche ones always do look amazing.

Worth looking into the pistons for sure.

They come with instructions? I have done a few heavy stops with them as per DS2500 instructions just to scrub the coating off, but have been braking relatively lightly.

I painted the bell with Hammerite in a moment of madness in a bid to stop them rusting. It looks ****e so I'd rather I'd left them alone to be honest.

I will double check but as they were rebuilt (not by me) knowing that they were going onto an A5 platform car so I suspect they'll be correct. I didn't think to check when I was fitting them as I presumed they'd be right. BTW they're 4 pots so you're still 2 pots up on me ;)

Just checked through the pictures to see if I had any of the pistons and I spotted this:

attachment.php?attachmentid=29678&stc=1&d=1248340440

Which shows that the larger piston is trailing and is indeed correct.

They look fantastic mate

Looking forward to seeing them in the flesh on Tuesday (hopefully I will be back on the road by then).

My Porsche brakes squeal too:thumbdwn:

We could have a "squeal off?"

Is that trailing bearing in mind the direction of travel on the disks?

Surely that's the leading edge of the pad when slowing, or is my brain just not working right now.

looks good, very nice brakes and very very nice rims

Yeah, that caliper piston position is correct. I wonder what is causing the squeel then? :rotz:. Still looks good anyway :D.

In answer to cheezemonkhai - put a mark on the disc and turn the wheel in the direction of travel, anti clockwise for front left and clockwise for front right. Where the mark first makes contact with the pad that is your leading edge. When the mark becomes visible again it has just past the trailing edge.

The larger piston should always be on the trailing edge to prevent pad taper, as the leading edge will always push in harder given the same amount of force aplied via the back of the pad.

Maybe they'll bed in a little better. Done 300 miles but mostly motorway with minimal use.

They'll get a good run in on Saturday ;)

hello friend some information about these discs(diameter, circle pitch, width).

Thanks for your time,dimitris.

They are 350mm, not sure of the width or hat height I'm afraid.

An immense car!

Pulls like a demon and then it stops unbelievably well even in the wet. I thought i was going to have to climb in the back to hold the rear wheels down!

Jezza's quote seems more fitting! "it trys to send you through the pearly gates backwards in a fireball"

I love people who re-quote all the photos to ask a question! :P

Cheers mate, it shift a bit with that new map on doesn't it? :D:thumbup:

Doesn't half matey, i haven't been in the car before. So i cant compare to the Revo or to the Standard Map.

I did have a 200bhp Astra Coupe though, and does pull away miles faster than that was capable of.

It didn't have 6 gears though lol.

Next time you're round I'll put the standard map on it if you like so you can see the difference? You know, just like I did to yours ;):D

How long would it take to put the old exhaust and the intake back on mate?

Would need to be completely standard on the engine front :P

Pfft, you don't want much do you?

If you're going to offer to see it in standard form mate, then you've got to be prepared for the concequences or however its spelt lol!
