VAT free prices on Octavia II until Dec 2009

Featured Replies

I'm glad to see that Skoda are now offering all Octavias at Vat free prices until 31 Dec 2009.(and Fabias and Roomsters until 30 Sep 2009) I've always felt that SKODA discriminated against the private non-scrappage customer - i.e. me.

Unfortunately its too late for me - I decided to get a Fabia instead of being asked to pay full list for a 1.4Tsi Elegance - pity!

I wonder if this is an indication that Skoda feels the scrappage scheme is soon to close, or prematurely burn out due to lack of customers......

DOH!!! :( looks like they have dropped the 0% finance and free servicing too???

Fabia and roomster are also untill 31 dec 2009, but must be registered by then to qualify as the VAT is going up on 1st of jan...:(

Hardly surprising though.

All 3 together and they may well have just given it away. Question is, which is the better deal.

No Vat or 0% with free servicing?

I've only just woken up so forgive me if I seem a bit thick this morning but I've just looked at the revised price list http://www.skoda.co.uk/pdf/a-skoda-tax-free.pdf and there seems to be a discrepancy between the prices and savings quoted.

Using an Octavia 1.4TSI Elegance hatchback with manual transmission for example, the "Recommended OTR excluding VAT" price is £12,269.57 whereas the original "On the road inculding VAT" price is £14,765. This gives a saving of £2,495.43 but the quoted "What you save" price is only £1,865.43, a difference of £630.

If the new OTR price is only £12,269.57 then the saving of £2,495.43 is less than £5 difference from what I'd be getting with the scrappage scheme of £2,500 so I would be better taking advanatage of this and selling my old car privately instead of scrapping it.

I've tried other examples as well and they appear to be similar unless there is something I'm missing here.

Also why does the forum log me out whilst I'm in the middle of posting and losing what I've written even though I'd only just logged in  (I can take a hint :D).

Thats because Skoda are usless with getting their web site correct. I looked on the Reatialer roadshow pdf, for the yeti...and all the contact numbers are wrong :rotz:

Only took a phone call to get someone to lok at it...but poor show really.

Nice to see Skoda UK have updated their image library, pre facelift octavia vrs on the front page of the price list. I noticed the same with the Yeti roadshow leaflet, wrong number for my local dealer. Lazy marketing department?

Back on topic it certainly has sparked my interest in a new vrs. Anyone know if there is much extra movement on top of the VAT off the price?

If Skoda are taking the full 15% off the OTR price then they've just made my life 1000% more difficult, because I love the look of a vRS, however I also love the practicality of the 4x4 Yeti!

I know they're two totally different beasts, but I like them both, I'd have both if my numbers came up on the lottery, but until then, I have to choose one!

So it now makes the decision on which one to choose a whole lot harder.

The year old car prices are not going to be good or for that matter 2ed hand in general with all these offers. Skoda might soon be getting into the Vauxhall/Ford way of heavy discounts, and the knock on effect of hammering all 2ed hand prices.

You can pick up a Octiava Estate for £10578 (ok old mpi unit) but that's cheep.

James.

sorely tempted as it means you can add options without feeling its costing you!!

mdi and leather for me I think..I'm gonna get a price from benfield

actually..is the MDi available on the new vRS? I cant see it in the options anywhere?

But according to the small print, the VAT free prices apply to MY2009 cars. Is this an error, or are Skoda discounting the unsold 2009 cars? What are the changes for MY2010?

Yes it is. About £150 if my memory serves me right :)

It'll actually be about £175 because you need to include approx £25 for the appropriate adapter for either your Ipod or Mp3 player, which you'd have thought would have come with it for that price.

not sure, I rang benfield newcastle and they gave me a price on a facelift vrs, led running lights were in the spec so it has to be a facelifted model
