Car serviced yesterday, Now idling funny, vRS

Featured Replies

Coincidences can happen, we serviced a 1.8 petrol one day to have the customer on the phone the next to say that it wasn't running right. From the fault description, we thought a coil pack had gone, so I went to his house, scanned the car, replaced a coil pack and all was well. All we charged him for was a coil pack.

What sort of service was carried out?, was the fuel filter and/or spark plugs replaced?

Something weird... Just got home from work, oddly, the car is still running like a bag of spanners but i dont know if its my imagination or not, but the car seems quicker then usual (its standard) the pull in 5th gear was phenomenal, and all the others to be honest.

however i was driving a focus yesterday so could be imagination but i think it does feel quicker then norm. ??

Fordfan, was a second variable service, as far as im aware the fuel filter and sparks were not done, if so they arnt listed on the check sheet

::UPDATE::

Ok skoda have had the car this morning, phoned me back, obviusly saying its not service related (which they would) , they have fixed the car tho and said it was a "Modified pressure valve" part of the turbo or something, he reckons as a good will gesture he is phoneing headoffice and trying to make it cheaper for me or something, worst case sceneario he said £99.

HOWEVER! my service (£259) and this pressure valve (£99 worst case) brings the grand total up to................ £358, which happens to be the EXACT qoute he gave me over the phone for the initial service before I negotiated.

2x Coincidences?? Probably not

Wait till he gets back to you before kicking off.

Also ask for the broken part but only when you get to the garage. If they have replaced it then they will have the broken one there to show you.

Also ask for the diagnostic report showing the fault codes

Hope you get it sorted at their expense

Result! My faith has been restored.

Got the car back and its running great, Skoda picked the bill up for me.

The dealer even washed my car for me!!

Good.

And you've come away with information and diagnostic results about what the problem was?

Just what I was wondering

If you had the full details of what was wrong, and what they did to fix it - we'd probably be able to tell you :)

unfort i never set foot in the dealers today they sent a driver to collect and bring back my car, all i know is they replaced that part

Sounds like the dealer looked after you very well, collected and delivered the car, washed it and fixed it for free. That to me sounds like a very good service especially as the car is out of warranty and it was a part that had failed....

I take it he did not need the skip to clean out the inside Lol LOl

Modified pressure valve on the Turbo?

I'd say that's a new revision dump/recirc valve as that lets the pressure off and is a valve and is now on revision D

I'd be EXTREMELY surprised if that caused a rough idle and faults across all cylinders.

Bearing in mind ive had 2 go on me and all they did was cause a loss of boost.

I was thinking if it failed closed rather than open then you'd end up with turbo stall.

I guess another option could be the fuel system pressure control, but I don't know owt about that on an TFSI.

Its a leaking non-return valve in the pressure regulating valve which is attached to the the intake manifold by hose. (modified part no 06F 129 101K) This causes the system to run too lean at idle, a pressure drop in the charger throttle valve and a leak in the intake system. The fault causes irregular idle and the emissions light to illuminate. No need to wonder any more!
