They certainly ain't the same ones as Skoda sell for £1500 - they appear to be cheap 'copies', and the screen shots are nothing like the genuine article

thanks, its obviously a copy as its a fraction of the price, but it does everything the skoda one does the screen quality is perfect so is the fit

Yeah its obviously a copy for that kind of money but it does everything the skoda one does, Satnav, DVD, Bluetooth, SD card, USB, Rear Camera, Remote Control, Plus it fits perfect and the Parts/Screen etc are made by Samsung so i doubt its junk, but thanks for your input

It might fit in the same gap as the proper one, but have you checked the connection leads, power supply, etc etc to see if it will be a straightforward fit ?

Have a look at another member's past experiences :-

Just noticed in the second picture the lighting around the switches is red, Skoda lighting is green.

Oh dear, prepare for endless hours of getting to work properly. Getting a satnav program that works and correctly fills the odd screen resolution will be the first hurdle. Then you have the poor quality interface that looks like its written by a child, the MP3 and IPOD playback that uses 8.3 format filenames and the Radio without RDS. You will need wiring adapators and also need to run a wire for it to switch on/off with the ignition as there is no switched supply behind the headunit. TBH I would have got a columbus, which would not have cost much more, possibly less after all the fiddling. You can get a columbus for £600 from ebay.

Personally I won't bother with intergrated Sat-Nav systems, for the simple reason that it's fairly difficult to integrate the Speed Cameras (Ooops sorry, "Safety Cameras") on to an integrated system.

I've got a subscription to the Speed Cameras (Ooops sorry again! "Safety Cameras") downloads on pocketgpsworld.com for my TTG and wouldn't be without it, its saved my licence from points several times, alerting me to the sneaky SCP & police tactics.

I feel saddened that you actually need them - drive within the law and you wouldn't have to worry. You'd be able to save your subscription as well

But don't get me going on this subject again :P

No point in having a performance car like a vRS if you're not going to use a dollop of the power it possesses then, in which case you probably should stick to something like a smart car.

I also take it that by the tone of the last post you've been caught..

No - more to the point, if you'd read my sig - I haven't

There's more to having a vRS than blitzing speed limits and driving like an ****, as it sounds you probably do :P

Just remember power is nothing without control.

Just because the power is there doesn't mean you have to speed everywhere.

I have a lot more power than standard but don't speed everywhere.

The only time i really use the power is to safely overtake a damn sight quicker than i normally could.

I have on the odd occasion annoyed somebody who thought they had a quicker car. Once i've made my point i slow back down again and let them on their merry way.

Just remember there is always somebody with a faster car. No matter what car you have.

I have had a clean license since 2000 ( youthful exuberance  ) and i intend to keep it that way

Remember they are speed limits not Targets

Cheers Carl - nice to hear someone who can think !

i just wanted to say thanks to everyone for all the advice above, im new to this and the input was very helpful,

ive been lucky i guess with the satnav as ive not had any problems touch wood, everything works fine, no problems with the mapping, the radio does have RDS, the bluetooth, DVD, photo veiwer, rear camera, and everything work fine, fitting it was not a problem at all it took about 40 minutes, mannyo is right about the fact it wont switch on and off with the ignition so you have to remember to turn it off at the unit, but i dont really consider that a problem given the money ive saved like i said it was only £285

thanks everyone and best wishes

When you put the set into the dash was it plug and play??? did you need any extra cables or plugs?? just for the radio, did you have to switch one of the cables over

No need to quote previous post.

no it went in fine no problems at all, it had a different connecter plug on the end of the wires than the mp3 streem i took out of the car but that just took a few minutes to match the wires up then it went in perfect, No extra cables or anything, i know you hear a lot of horror storys about these Satnav DVDs but this one is great the mapping is fine the picture and sound are great the rear camera is clear, i know if you went over it with a microscope i might be a bit different than the Skoda one but it is £1215 cheaper and id rather have like Twelve Hundred pound in my pocket that a slightly better Satnav in the car

Glad it all works fine.

Some you win and some you lose. Looks like you won this one.

As long as your happy then thats all that matters

Carl:thumbup:

Very lucky if yours is working from the box. Many dont, and when everythings in chinese things can be difficult.

Thats a good price

I'm sorry but if you need a machine to tell you when you're about to get "done" for speeding then really you shouldn't be driving.

If it's a fixed camera then they are big, obvious and yellow.

There are also nice white markings on the road to look out for.

If they are variable then it's quite straight forward - they allow for the 10%, so if you're in a 70, make sure you go no faster than 75mph for the duration.

There is no point trying to beat these.

If it's a van, just look for lonely vans parked in lay-by's - they soon become obvious.

Other than that you're most likely to be hit with a manual detector in say a 30mph or 40mph zone and you simply should NOT be speeding in such a zone anyway - if you must speed then do so on 60mph/70mpg areas, not in built-up ones.

I'm 33 now (34 in November).

I've had my license for coming up to 17 years.

Total number of points on my license, ever = ZERO

No I don't drive around like a pensioner, yes I do exceed the speed limit now and again, no I haven't owned only vehicles that go 40mph.
