A few airshow pictures

Featured Replies

I went to the airshow at East Fortune (East Lothian) yesterday.

This was my first attempt at photographing aircraft so most of the 560 pictures I took got binned straight away ... but I thought I'd share a few.

I was following one plane with the camera and didn't realise they were going to pass each other till it was too late:

Thankyou, and thanks for the ID. That looks like the one :)

I was at the Northampton Festival of history yesterday and the Vulcan flew right overhead nice and low which was a huge bonus.

It wasn't part of the program but I suspect they do route the plane past other events where they can.

The only annoyance was I'd just put my camera back in the bag.

cracking pics Kay especially if it's your 1st go at aircraft

really like this one, bet it was loud :D

Lovely set.

The Hunter and Skyraider being my favs.

Good pictures, especially for a first air show, binned loads? that's the

joy of digital photography, snap away and no wasted film:thumbup::)

Thanks for the comments :)

The Vulcan was amazing. Low and very loud :D

I loved the paint job on the jet, but don't worry, it hasn't given me any ideas

And yes, most of my pics have gone in the bin. That's why I took hundreds, i had a feeling a lot of them would. They looked fine on the camera, but alot of them were just fuzzy :(

Not to worry. I'm sure I'll get another go soon enough :)

To be honest, I think by missing the 'cross-over' you've actually got a more interesting

picture on that one, my favourite, a nice composition:)

Thanks :)

Word of advice Kay - don't ever admit to having taken a picture like that by accident

Great shots MudPuppy, love the Vulcan and the hunter. Great exposure and nice n sharp, not easy at the best of times, let alone your first airshow.

Well done mate, keep em coming.

Martin

Thanks, it was a great day. I'm hoping to be at Leuchars too :)

What settings do people recommend for air shows , as those pictures came out very nicely?

I've added a bit of info above on what settings I used under the photos (I kept ISO at 400 for all the pics). For most I used shutter priority setting to get a bit of prop blur.

I'm sure someone else could probably recommend what settings are best to use though, as this was my first airshow and I was just experimenting really.
