Are there any plans for stuff after lunch too? I'd no idea how long I'd be hanging around for to be honest... Were there any plans for a wee drive around the area, perhaps find some group of nova-boys to hassle? If there is munchies planned in the early evening, count me in too :D yum yum!

Jon,

nice to hear you're coming. Mr Funky will of course assist in the catering area!

Plans for after lunch are whatever everyone wants to do. I expect that this will depend on the weather, which don't sound too great.

Needless to say that there will be plently to talk about and new faces to put names to. The greatest bit is when someone asks you what your name is......Oh i'm (briskoda handle) real name....... Always creates a bit of a laugh at first that one.

I am sure that Jon can regail us with his many track stories, he may even bring along (if we are lucky) his friend Hugh C N Massump, who has some very interesting tales to tell about the wet roads of Yorkshire me thinks........hhhhmmmmmm!!!!!!1

Any further details for the meet???

What details in particular are you after?

Dan,

See the post entitled Meeting 25th May or send me a private message on this site and will send you details to your e-mail address

I'm having great difficulty (call me stupid ;)) locating this in my routeplanner. Can someone provide me with the address (pref. postcode) of the Malt Shovel? I have about 3 different locations which are all similar but not close enough to be confident in finding it :(

Q.

Err. I vaguely remember posting the postcode of the Malt Shovel in the "NEC meet" thread. If you can find Stonebridge, thats pretty much it. I think the postocde began CY7, or summit like that :D

Quinten , the post code for the Malt Shovel is CV7 7HL , you was right Jason :)

The Malt Shovel - Solihull

Barston Lane

Barston

Solihull

B92 0JP

Is this it then?

Doh, I guess not :D

Quinten I posted a map link on the meeting thread earlier this evening with a big arrow pointing at the Malt Shovel (assuming I've got it right :p). It's right on the junction of the A45/A452, about a mile east of M42J6

Quinten we are all trying to help you :D the address is

The Malt Shovel

Stonebridge Roundabout

Coventry Road which is the A45 east off junction 6 M42

Not sure if this is going to work

image.dll?ShowImageℑ=SP28SW26.gif&road=Y&arrow=y&x=51&y=35&loc2=84&type=O

image.dll?ShowImageℑ=SP28.gif&road=Y&arrow=y&x=30&y=78&loc2=a5

The arrowed PH is the malt shovel. The big road across the page is the A45.

That matches with the routeplanner shot attached then... pfew :D

Q - now known as thicko ;)

OK, its all plugged into the sat nav, should be very easy to find :D.

Mind you having said that its very easy anyway so, just for Q:

Take the A41 over to the M40 @ J9

Turn right (North) towards Brum up the M40

At M40 Exit 3A, continue (West) on Ramp signed M42 / M1 / M6 / The North / B'ham (E.N. & Central) / Solihull / N.E.C. Airport

Continue (North) on M42 for about 7.8 miles

At M42 Exit 6, A45 / B'ham (S.E.) / N.E.C. Airport / Coventry (S & W)

At the roundabout, take the FOURTH exit

Follow along the A45 towards Coventry for about a mile or so. Come off at the junction for the A452.

Pub should be on the left.

Piece of cake :D

He he, looks like your routeplanner matches up with the way my satnav tells me to go, unlike Autoroute which gave the instructions I posted above

:D

I'll be approaching from the North on the A452, so I guess the pub should be on my right then? I hope. Should be easy as there's a junction on the M6 that goes straight on to the A452. piece of cake indeed :D

Piece of cake? Yes please, if you're offering Mr Devon Dumpling :D

:D

I use Infomap Navigator along with an Etrex GPS on the laptop. Will be the first time for such a long (relatively speaking) journey. I just hope the woman's voice giving the directions isn't as indecisive as SWMBO... Might end up in Portsmouth then! :D

Q.

All sounds very dull - in my case, amble over to Ciren, hack up the Fosse Way to Warwick, get on the A46 for a bit, turn off onto the A452, continue until stumbling on the A45. RYFB. Or I could be very boring and go up the M5, but I think not

I'll be going up the M5 tonight - not a great deal of choice from down this way :D

My people,

I will be getting to The Malt Shovel at approx 10.30 to wait for U all. Having spoken to The Bulls Head where we will be eating, they tell me that we need to be there before 12.00. So if U can try and get to the Malt Shovel by 11.30 am.

But don't worry, if you are later, we'll send someone along to The Bulls Head to warm the seat!! In the pub that is..............

By the way i'll be in a Silver RS with a big Briskoda sticker and a big grin on my face (no i won't have my hands down my trousers!!)

DOES THIS HELP!

  • Author

Des,

It doesn't help me!!!!!! But that's cos I know where it is!!!!!!

I'm surprised no-one has asked where the Bulls Head is. In case someone misses the leaving from The Malt Shovel, The Bulls Head is on Birmingham Road, Meriden, which is about 2 miles away from the Malt Shovel. The plan is for us to be all there before 12pm, in order to guarantee tables, as we cannot reserve. The pub does know that we are coming though.

If anyone wants any further information I will gladly give them my mobile no if they send me a private message.
