Hi,

Just got back from a round trip to Newcastle (i live in leicester) so its a round trip of just under 400 miles. The route was m1 -> m18 - > a1(m) so motor-way driving 90% of the way. I drove at a steady 70-75 all the way except where the enforced 50's are on the m1 and a1.

I reset the MPG counter at the start and when i got home it showed a staggering 83mpg. Can this possibly be true?

Work it out for yourself dude!

Surelly you filled up for a trip like that. Go fill back up to work out exactly how much fuel you've used. You already know the exact miles - get the old calc out and do the math! ;)

Who needs trip computers?

Wheres james may when you need him?

The MPG computer should be running the country, it's overly optimistic  You would struggle to get that MPG from a Polo Blue Motion, let alone a VRS :D

All the above are valid points, but if it's any use my regular short work commutes result

in a very stingy mpg after a while, lucky to get much over 40mpg even on a run, however

do a reset and I can get 70mpg on a local straight 'B' road.

As suggested, next time do the maths from a full tank re-fill, probably be 50 odd mpg

on that sort of run:)

Mine over estimates by around 5 MPG and I've never, ever seen a reading like that. I sit on the the motorway at 75-77 using cruise control as a comparison.

Someone get the little kitties ready............ they are in trouble again.
