Need a bit of feedback about 1.6l

Featured Replies

Just wondering if it's just me. I used to have a megane coupe 1.6 and when you put your foot down you could feel the acceleration straight away. With the Octy there seems to be quite a delay. Is it just mine or are they all the same?

Megane 115bhp 112lbft 1135kg

Skoda 101bhp 109lbft 1380kg

Less power, less torque, more weight.

*Figures off the internet and therefore probably wrong*

I know there is less power which you can feel, it's just the acceleration you put your foot on the floor but you don't feel the acceleration straight away.

I find with mine - stick the rev's between 3500rpm & 4500rpm and you can get it shifting. In second gears as well, it pulls quite well. If it isn't running as it should - it might need a service?

Don't get me wrong its no sports car, but it does move if you want it to!

If you stay at a constant in 2nd between 3500 & 4500 put your foot to the floor is the acceleration instant or is there a pause before it kicks in?

I don't have a pause between 3500 - 4500, it seems pretty instant to me. What is happening with yours? I find the only time its really sluggish is when I pull away in 2nd gear in slow traffic etc, instead of swapping to 1st lol! Around 1500rpm mark.

is this the kerb weight of the octy or octy plus driver?

it sounds like a daft question but my 1.6 is lister as 1250kg

I don't know, I got the numbers from a car statistics website.

130 kg is a lot anyway.

I weighed that once but it is 21 stone, that's massive.
