Suspension Help

Featured Replies

Hey all i konw this subject has cropped up before but i need help. My head is buzzing with all the posts i have read. Anyway to the question whats the best for suspension upgrade Coilovers or just new springs and shocks.

I travel around 45 miles a day on motorway i have a young son and a wife who i dont think will enjoy a hard ride but i want it lower than it is please help with your vast knowledge.

P.S got around £400 to spend

Oh and its getting a remap

£400 will get you nothing worth fitting. The Fabia has fixed camber, and lowering increases negative camber = inner edge tyre wear. Lowering on original dampers causes early failure of the dampers, and more often than not the shorter springs rattle about when the suspension is unloaded = top of strut bearing worn quite soon.

AP Coilovers with helper springs work quite well. However uneven tyre wear will result if you wind it down too far.

not true, my tyres are wearing quite even, if anything a little harder on the outter edge due to roundabouts

i run Eibach springs on the standard shocks , 25mm lower, no issues with the shocks with over 50k miles on them , plus when the tracking is set correctly , there wont really be a huge issue with inner edge wear on the tyres

i would suggest having fitted the Seat Ibiza Cupra console bushes , this will stop a lot of excessive fore/aft front wheel movement when braking, which can cause tyre wear problems

what a load of turd if you ask me. You can get the eibach springs with plenty of spare change for Cupra bushes and Powerflex polybushes. As said above the standard shocks will be fine

Coilovers will (when wound down) produce to much negative camber and **** your tyres, I get it with mine, and haven't been able to find a kit to sort it yet.

By the sounds of it the only coilovers you could get would be ones that had adjustable shocks to suit for your use. but you'll pay more for them
