Been in one

Featured Replies

Went out in a 1.8 TSi Yeti today and have to say I was impressed. VERY quiet, very comfortable despite it seeming fairly stiff. This was one of the roadshow left hand drive Czech cars so the spec was "similar to SE". Boot was nothing special - about the same size as my Altea which could possibly be an issue. Prices are a bit on the high side I think, a grand too much in my opinion. Would like an Elegance preferably 170 TDI, but I think even the 140 TDI is going to be over my allowance, don't know if the 110 with have enough go for me.... Perhaps an up specced SE would be okay? Even though they are very different, its between a Yeti TDI and an Octy vRS TDI...

I've got exactly the same sentiments..

The only difference being I went in a 140TDi and whilst it was punchy, it just lacked that little something.

I'm now debating what to get either a Yeti 170TDi (Elegance) or Octy vRS (engine & box tbc).

cherry evo, I guess you may not be able to answer this if the roadshow guy was driving all nice and smooth, but did you get any clue as to what the performance was like eg. giving it some right foot?

I spent yesterday afternoon at Allams Skoda having a poke around a black CR140.

Spec was a fairly basic one but it has to be said the fit and finish was excellent. As for the boot size, I reckon it is bigger than my Fabia and as I don't have a dog to cart around (like most of the people here :) ) should be more than adequate. Jury is still out as to whether be brave and go without a spare wheel or spend £50 for piece of mind and a bit of underfloor storage space around the spare.

I was taken out for a ride round by the car's guardian. It was certainly quieter then my present machine, both engine noise and road noise being much reduced. Triple door seals no doubt help with the road noise being kept outside. CR engines are supposed to be quieter than the PD motors. Seemed to go very well but without actually driving it, it's impossible to say exactly how quick it actually is.

Ride was very good, certainly not wallowing at all round the corners and not too stiff. Acres of room inside, front and back and it felt like there was a lot more width to the cabin then the Fabia. This one didn't have sliding rear seats as it was a semi pre-production model.

Result? Well I'm just sitting by the phone waiting for James to call me as soon as I can place an order for a CR170....

Many thanks to James for the hospitality - it's nice to deal with people who know the product and make you feel at home.

I was given a test drive (passenger only as lhd) last week at Underwoods of Colchester. 140 TDI SE spec with electric drivers seat + alcantera trim.

Was very impressed with comfort, ride, lack of engine noise, build quality. Car performed well, had plenty of go and was very relaxing to be in.Also hospitality of dealer and demonstrator was first rate. Interested in dsg box, but not available until May 2010, but worth the wait as now equal top of my short list :)

Hope Skoda UK market car in right way, because they are really on to a winner if first impressions are anything to go by.

Was one recently (the Czech demo) and it was lovely. The only thing was the VAG driver demonstrating it was awful - over the white line half the time, shy of the left hand side and really jerky - but it still stood up well, which is a good thing.

The only issue for me is the boot space c/w my Octy Scout.

He drove it very mellow! Was a really nice guy though, apparently not emplyed by Skoda, he works for a driving agency and does this type of thing for a living (great job!) and had driven everything from Ferrari's to Kia - thinks Ferrari's are crap btw! He did say that the Qashqai is the market leader but having spent time in both thought the Yeti was far superior, much better built, much smoother, etc. But as for driving it hard, erm, no, so can't answer your question I'm afraid.
