More vacuum issies

Featured Replies

After my posting last week about my possible turbo issues being caused by a faulty vacuum pump (or leaking pipe somewhere), I rather stupidly :( wiggled the pipes a bit on Saturday. Since then I drove up to Somerset and then over to Oxfordshire, and the car was a bit sluggish (recently it has been ok).

This morning when pulling out of the hotel carpark onto a fastish main road that car stuttered and felt really pretty flat. I don't think it went into limp home mode as I was able to get the revs up over 2500rpm, but it took for ever and a month to gain any speed. On a long straight section of road, in 3rd gear, at 1500rpm the car took for ever to pickup and no way felt as lively as it should.

Traditionally one would say the MAF was at fault, but as I gently wiggled the vacuum, hoses a few days before hand I am thinking the problem is with these. It is my plan to replace these hoses, but I seem to recall there are two internal diameters of pipe - does anyone know what these are, or should I just turn up at my local parts place, pull off a few pieces of pipe and get them to match for internal dimensions?

Finally is there any spec for vacuum hose, or will any old vacuum hose do?

Cheers,

Matt
