Hi there from a new girl

Featured Replies

Just thought I'd say Hi to all you Skoda drivers as it's not long before I become one myself. I'm the cousin of Slender who posted the thread about black or silver for a Fabia vrs...I chose black in the end and although I realise I'll be forever cleaning it, it sure does look pretty spectacular in black. The test drive blew me away and thoughts of a Mini Cooper were well and truly binned afterwards. I pick up my new motor on 30th October and I can't wait! So has anyone got any advice about what I've got to look forward to with my new toy?

Hello Loula and welcome to Briskoda,Sorry i cant give any info or advice on the fabia but thats cos i own an octy but im sure someone will be along shortly to chat you up,sorry i meant give you advice :D

Hi Loula,

Welcome. I'm sure it won't be too long before some of the Fabia brigade pop along to say hello and offer advice :D

Hi Loula

I have just hit the 700 mile mark in mine and to say it gets better with each mile is an understatement :) You may (or may not) experience slight vibration from the gearbox in idle after the first few hundred miles, I did but now happily it's gone. I point this out as there are a couple of threads already about this, which incidentally I'm glad I read before it happend to mine otherwise I might have panicked :( So, it's clearly an issue with some but happily not serious or long-term.

You may also want to keep the revs below 3,000 rpm up to the first 1000 miles, but regularly hit 3,000 rpm....yet another thread about this subject which again I have taken notice of. Even at this limited rev range there is loads of power on tap

Keep an eye on your oil level, again for a few thousand miles, as I found it needing a minimal top-up shortly after taking delivery.

Try to give your vRS a good coating of wax (Jewelultra Diamondbrite for me....excellent stuff) and try to treat the interior seats with a teflon based coating (again I use Jewelultra :) )

Anything else......???? Yes, enjoy :wavey:

Hello Loula.

I've just hit the 17K mark in mine.

As the others have mentioned keep an eye out on the oil level for the first 10K as they do go through a bit but I've not had to touch mine for the last 7K.

It's worth getting something to protect the seats as they do get marked easily.

Allow plenty of time for cleaning your car - I'm always getting grief about the satate of mine even though I wash it as often as I can.

They do look great when clean though.

Yes , the last introduction thread from someone female turned into one of the longest in the history of Briskoda and she ended up with a new boyfriend. :)

I'm sure someone will soon enquire if you are single and try and find out where in the country you are.

Hi carefree,

Thanks very much for the advice, I'll be sure to check out those threads. My brother works in the car business so he's sorting me out with some wax and a coating for my seats. We'll no doubt be doing it the weekend after I pick it up as I'm taking my vrs on its major outing from Birmingham to Skipton to meet him. He's well impressed I've decided to get one if not a little green! :D

Welcome Loula ,

Most points have been mentioned above or if you do a thread search that will give some further advice.

In my case :-

Vibration near gear lever - turned out to be the seat belt hitting the centre console. ( small piece of blu tack stopped it )

Watch your speed - at 70 mph the vRS is surprisingly quiet

Seats - spray with ScotchGard or similar

Find someone ( husband , boyfriend , parent - delete as required ) who has a pressure washer - I found it essential.

On collection day have a good look at the car - check body work for paint quality , wheels for damage etc. - take someone with you is a good idea.

OH! one other thing enjoy your new car :)

Thanks for all that john, and the advice about giving the car a good look over on collection day. And yes, I shall take someone with me. :)

Hi and Welcome.

Hope you enjoy the site.....ask a way I'm sure some one will have something ....constructive to say.

Now boyz play nicely......I don't want to be moderating another thread. ;) I'm sure Uncle Des will pipe up a sometime. :D

welcome

Hello  and welcome to briskoda. Very few lady's are brave enough to dare step in here and even less stay for that long! (normally when Jason offers to show them things :P )

Anyway, nout more I can added that hasn't already been said, but I will confirm that you really need to watch your speed, as it will cruise on a ton with no effort at all.

All the best and enjoy your motor!

Mike

hi! from one newbie to another, WELCOME!!

Welcome Loula.

As already pointed out, keep an eye on your oil for the first 10K. I got a nasty shock the first time I checked mine at 3K  .

Also pay attention to the speedo when on private roads ;) . It goes 70-80-90-110.

Hi Loula, are you single, and if so what do you look like? ;). Can't have predictions turning out wrong now can we :)
