Featured Replies

Ok guys neeed some help wife was driving the fabia today picked a wrong gear and blew the turbo :(Not a happy bunny am i!!!!!! Need to source one ASAP i have a 06 vrs with a BLT engine any ideas where the best place to get one at a reasonable price!!! Toying with the idea of a upgrade what is the best way forward, Shes gonna have to use my octavia vrs in the mean time i am worried for its saftey!!!!

Sure the turbo has gone, and it's not just a boost hose that has popped off? Those clips tend to bust before the turbo's give up the ghost.

I am sure!!!! it was like something out of a james bond movie lots of smoke!!!! i mean LOTS oil coming out of the exhaust and everything engine is ok though!!! thank god

Yeah - That's precisely what happens when a boost pipe pops off too! :P Obviously, if you've checked all the connections, then the diagnosis is not looking good for the turbo.

I doubt SWMBO killed it. Sounds like coincidence.

make 1000% it's not a boost pipe - it's the first thing to let go given the crummy OEM clips. You might be pleasantly surprised (fingers crossed here)

Cheers baz not looking that way though!! i know those clips are rubbish was a skoda master tech up until december last year it is 100% the turbo now working at a independant garage due to getting fed up with main dealer politics!!!!! fitting it won't be a problem thinking uprated replacement is the way forwards just not sure where to get one!!!!

The wife said thanks Gadgetman for backing her up!!! But the fact the dappy bint went from 6th to 3rd at about 80 killed it:rofl:

Well, that makes you more qualified to diagnose the issue than 99.999% of people on here. :D:thumbup:

What turbo do you have on your fabia looks pretty quick!! where can i get one and will i need to remortgage !!!!!!

VT5 turbo, from Allards, although I still don't know / think they're trading properly anymore.

Looking at around £1,500 for turbo and necessary pipework / downpipe to fit.

???? Why would that hurt the turbo. Over rev the motor yes, turbo damage, no.

Well it did alex it may have been on the way out but that is what killed it i was in the codrivers seat!!!

It over reved lost all power then came the blue smoke!!!

Skodas are funny cars and sometimes let go at the oddest moments.

PS: Alex - my brakes are now **** hot! No emergency stops done but the feel is spot on again.

That they are!! but it's much more fun making the wife feel guilty

I have to ask but why was 5th (I assume the intended gear) needed at 80mph? Surely exceedling NSL already didn't need to shift down a cog ;) Planning a bit of a spirited motoring was she? :D

Dangerous game. They can be nasty at revenge.

Blown turbo on a 3 year old car ? Think I'd be calling Skoda!

:+1:

my 2p - take a look at Turbo dynamics stage 2 hybrid - veeery happy with mine despite some serious abuse in a really harsh environment...

Good luck

Bas

Turbo Dynamics, CR Turbos, Turbo Technics etc should be able to help you out with an uprated turbo. If you are going for a pd150 based hybrid monster you will need replace the standard side mounted intercooler though.

BLOODY women drivers eh?!

Ha-Ha!

Touch wood, I won't make that mistake anytime soon!

Good luck with getting it repaired fella, what a blow! =(

Why?

Warranties aren't designed to cover all forms of mechanical abuse.
