What group of people is Fabia vRS aimed at?

Featured Replies

Xaviaer, it makes you most of Paul's list :P

;)

For me, i cant be bothered with all this so-called badge snobbery malarky, if anything I am seriously proud to drive my fab vrs and at the moment cant see me ever choosing any other manufacturer, and I've driven or owned virtually all there is. I mentioned before that I feel a certain smugness when my car is eyed up by people, especially when, like yesterday, i left two spotty chavs in a saxo standing at some traffic lights. Badge snobbery??? nah, these two chavs would love a vrs, skoda or not.

Give it a few years, when most have forgotten all the (crap) jokes, and you can bet your life that owning a skoda will be as acceptable as any other make, and that the cocky youth with spots, burberry and gold jewellry will be meeting his mates at burger king in his (used) fab vrs (one of ours probably) and being the centre of attention. :D

Taviaers, what list would a sdi-diesel-taxi-driver-wannabe fall in? ;)

I hate to think you could be right there :o

i bought my fab vrs because it is just an excellent car.

i looked at a focus tdci, a seat ibiza sport and had a 206dturbo before and none of these compared, even though they are in a similar group with regards to price/size etc.

the focus proved too expensive to buy and, for what you were paying, didnt match up at all. it was also way too common.

the ibiza was too small (i could hardly sit up straight even with the seat right down) didnt look half as good and was not as nice inside. and it cost alot more!

the 206 was a pile of sh!te and i couldnt wait to get rid of it!

the fab vrs is fairly cheap to run, is fast, good looking (if a car can be), is good inside (except for the easily marked grey cloth) and is also very rare. it is also a head turner - you get so many looks from people when you pass them - especially when they dont expect to overtaken by a 'little old skoda fabia'.

however, when ive decided to grow a moustache and beard, got two kids, a dog and a caravan i might 'upgrade' to an octavia ;)

the change is happening though as i do listen to radio 2 sometimes. oh no!

I object to the "shandy drinkers" statement. I don't drink alcohol at all' date=' preferring instead, Fanta Fruit Twist.

[/quote']

Well if you loved over here it would be Fanta Exotic, which really winds me up. NI is part of the UK so why the hell to we get Cocca Cola products with ROI names?????????

Cause its bloo*y brilliant, and if your 23 been driving for 5 years with no no-claims you can still get insured and it's only insurance group 9A  .

P.S: any solid car with the capability of 180BHP+ at approx

Couldn't agree more. I did have a 206 diesel and not wanted to open old wounds it was the worse car I have every owned! My old metro was far more reliable! Though I can prove that it does do more than the 112 top speed :(

For the price and insurance group it can not be beaten, especially as I'm 23 with 1 years no claims (only owned my own car for a year)

And like everyone else says... my skoda turns heads and that rocks! :D

VW Polo with a different badge at half the price? Or a VW Polo thats not as fast and doesn't look as good and is more money? Hmmm wonder what I''d choose

Hicksy :D

It was kind of a no brainer for us - 3 year old Golf with moon mileage/new vRS...

What really makes me laugh is people STILL say

'eugh you bought a Skoda'

I personally think we should keep quiet - lets leave em as the best kept secret otherwise prices will go up!!!

Jimmy, you've just saved me a load of typing!

However, I haven't yet grown a beard or moustache either, but I have got 2 kids and a caravan...sorry Pete, a shed on wheels...and I consider the Fabia to be the best car I have ever owned thanks.

Not going to start critisising the Octavia and calling owners of them childish names..wheather meant in jest or otherwise..as some members have one of each, like Andy Spinndrift.

Also, I'm seriously considering getting an Octy tdi next year when my current family hack goes back at the end of it's contract period.

These days, you're hearing more and more people say things like "Euugh! I wouldn't dare be seen in a BMW...". There's a certain image that goes with the kinds of people who own BMWs and it's not a good one. To an extent, it also includes Mini owners (girls, people with too much money and not enough sense).

The "Skoda" badge snobbery thing IS diminishing, thanks to cars like the Octavia vRS, the Superb and the Fab vRS. Obviously, the more "economical" models will still be bought by ye olde folk, but more and more people realise that Skoda is synonymous with great value, quality and performance.

:D

have a look at this weeks autocar they are handing back their vRS.

in depth look at owning proposition and pros/cons. Seems to sum up

the kind of buyer at the end..... u want performance,build,economy,value.......... vRS only choice.

have a look at the new BMW 1 series and they give it 4 stars.

slower

uglier

and only 10 grand more ..... blinding.

i think skoda was aiming the fabia vRS at people who are not stupid and know their cars.

IMHO

i think skoda was aiming the fabia vRS at people who are not stupid and know their cars.

So are you suggesting that someone who buys a BMW 1-series doesn't know anything about cars? Despite choosing something which is nicely balanced and RWD as opposed to a nose-heavy understeery hatch?

I'm not saying the BMW 1-series is a good car, I haven't driven one to know. But just because it costs more than a Skoda and isn't as fast doesn't make it necessarily worse!

Rob.

i am not saying the bmw is a bad car, i'm sure it handles fantastic.

my point is this, when i bought the fabia i also test drove an Audi A3 TDI,

and a Golf TDI, i would have tested the bmw if it had been available.

and i could not justify the price differential in any way (maybe Audi build/q)

the reason i pick out the bmw is purely beacause -

my point is this, when i bought the fabia i also test drove an Audi A3 TDI,

I think that's a fair point, as they all drive much the same, are similar sizes (despite the platform differences), etc. Justifying the extra on them is hard, even from a build quality point of view...

Anyone know what group of people the Fabia vRS is aimed at? Age / gender etc?

Strange question I know but needed for a University assignment :)

Jonathan

Jonathan, a direct response to your question is that the car is aimed at the thirty something group. That was Skoda's intention but it backfired on them, actually in their favour. 20/30/40/50 year olds have purchased this car for its great value and performance with economy etc......
