Digital Camera

Featured Replies

Guys,

I'm looking at getting a new digital camera from the US. I was thinking of one of the following in the below order, what do you think? Any advice ?

Pentax Optio S5i (this model is only out)

Casio Exilim EX-Z50 (this model is only out)

Nikon Coolpix 5200

Pentax Optio S4i

Casio Exilim EX-Z40

I found a good site www.adorama.com, prices are a lot cheaper than here anyway (S5i is 150 Euro cheaper).

Remember to factor in VAT & Import duties to any prices from the states...

take a look at www.dpreview.com for more camera info :)

Also the fact that you will probably have a warranty which is only valid in North America. If the camera fails imagine having to ship it back to the states :(

Saw the Olympus MJU400 going for

Don't forget that if the camera uses a rechargeable battery and there is a charger supplied, it will possibly only operate on USA voltage (110volts I think).

Most now are multi voltage. Its only the plug/lead that is different. My Olympus came like that.

Dont get a casio, I know where they come from........

I wanted to stick with one of the above models as I have already got an SD card. A friend got the Pentax S4 and it must be mutli voltage as he just put a 3 pin plug on. I have a relation in the US who I could send it back to if I had warranty issues, so they could send it onto the manufacturer (this will probably sort out the VAT issue aswell :) ).
