remap at amd technic in lakeside essex

Featured Replies

hi guys, i just thought id give amd a mention on the website as i had my car remapped by them yesterday and i was really impressed with them.

i originally contacted them by email and was replied to the very next morning by the manager sean.i was enquiring about a remap at a reduced cost (if you dont ask you dont get). i was pleasantly surprised when he offered me a discount of 10 % because i was recommended by my brother who had had his car done by them.

on the day i turned up on site and was instantly impressed with their setup, its very clean and proffesional looking. sean put the diagnostics machine on first and found a couple of faults unfortunately but nothing serious (temperature sensor & intermittent maf fault) but he informed me first and asked if i would still like to continue with the remap. he then test drove the car and put it on the rolling road, then a new standard map was downloaded as my existing one was corrupt, and then he downloaded the performance map.he took the car for another drive and returned to the rolling road and tested again.

the service was superb and i was surprised and impressed with how thorough they were. they even made me a cuppa whilst i was waiting

the car achieved 204 bhp and that was with a slight boost leak that has now been fixed.

the torque has raised to 228lb/ft from 165lb/ft which is amazing:D

they also gave me a laminated print out of the before and after rr results.

also sean has offered to replace both the maf at £70 + vat and the temperature sensor at £22 + vat with no labour charge as he said thats what he will do as part of the remap service. you cant ask for more than that, unfortunately money was tight so ill be going back in a couple of weeks to get it sorted.

overall the service was great, the staff were friendly, the results were perfect & as i got a discount, the price was also very fair.

if your thinking of having your car remapped and your in or around essex, i think you could do a lot worse than amd technic

heres the link for anyone interested Tuning Parts for Skoda Octavia 1.8T 180Bhp/RSi (2000 -) from AmD Technik

just to let you all no, im recommending amd purely because ive seen the results on my brothers bora 130 tdi (175 bhp & lots of torque), and obviously my own personal experiance with them and im very happy :D:thumbup: i diddnt stop grinning all the way home,

sorry for the long winded post, but if it helps one person then it was worth it.

if you read this sean, many thanks again to you and your staff.:D

yes it made a huge difference alright, i couldnt believe my luck on the way home as there was a mk 11 octavia vrs and i know they are 200bhp standard and as i over took him on the a13 he instantly pulled out behind me and gave it some beans, obviously i had to have a little play just out of curiousity :D although it wasnt a huge difference it was very clear that i was pulling away from him. i pulled over after we reached silly speeds and i let him pass, he was obviously not impressed going by the look on his face

yes standard dv at the moment, but they did advise that i change it for a oo7p? i think its a forge? il be saving some pennies

Nice to see a good write-up about a company :D

Thanks for the write up, i have been trying to decide where to take mine. After seing your review i can see it being AMD now. Good service over price is worth alot.

Mine was done there in 2004 and I visited them in May for a fault diagnoses session. Most helpful bunch of guys you could hope to find and know their stuff, shuttle you to the complex etc. Needless to say they fixed mine :-) Shame I had to drive from Bristol though. Going to give TSR a shot next as a lot closer as took over 8 hrs to get back with traffic!! :-(

Thought I'd add to this thread rather than a new one. Had remap, dv, filter and arb's fitted yesterday at AmD.

Absolutely awesome service, cant praise them enough. Even exchanged arb kit for free, which was wrong from another garage. (See ##!!## / Alldub rant / thread)

Car ran 210bhp and 250ft lb of torque!

Feels really smooth and handles much better with RARB.

Will be taking the car there from now on and would recomend to all. Just need to figure out what to do next, brakes or suspension.

Weitec HiCon GTs are only £390 from DPM at the moment Darryl...

Don't tell Hannah I'm tempting you to modify the car :rofl:

Too Late! She nearly fainted when I told her how much I was spending! Nearly bought coillies yesterday!

I'm seriously tempted to buy a set of coilies just because they're cheap at the moment and might not be that price for much longer. Can't insure any mods at the moment though so they would just sit in the garage for a while!

You could buy them and I could borrow them!

Tthinking about getting one myself.

Hi sorry for delayed response. On holiday and currently using I phone!

Got eibach front and rear. So far so good car is slot stiffer and more planted through corners. Will test more when the mrs isn't in the car!

Jamie, you know you want to get them!!!!

Hi,

Cheers, I was probably going to go with the Eibach myself although I was only going to go for the Rear one and everyone only seems to sell them as a pair. :(

Jamie, you know you want to get them!!!!

Apparently they're that price for a few months now so will have to see what Santa brings... :D

I've got enough problems on my plate at the moment with the front and rear washers not working thanks to the sh***y water we have around here!

Hewey,

Buy a set and sell the front to the mk4 boys on Forums - uk-mkivs as this is an upgrade for them in their own right that we cant do as our front arb set up is different.

You might find that changing the front wiper and rear wiper jets will fix the problem. Quite cheap and easy to do. The old jets just get clogged up and stop working.

Sweedish,

Thanks for the advise, something I might look into.

Cheers

Hewey
