2hr blast - pics included

Featured Replies

If anyone's read the new issue of Performance Car magazine, then you'll know what I'm on about this morning. They had a road trip theme this issue and tried to find some of the best roads in the UK. Seeing as I live near the ones covered by Dan Prosser in the Clio Cup Trophy, I got up early this morning and had a spirited drive of about 90 miles - just for the fun of it. I went from Scarborough up to Whitby, then over the Moors to Pickering and then off up to Blakey Ridge via Rosedale Abbey. Deserted roads, clear weather and a full tank of fuel made for a fantastic start to the day. I've put a few pics up for you to look at. The car is filthy due to quite a bit of mud on the road in places, but I promise it was clean to start with. Hope this might inspire some others to get out and drive for the sake of it - it's good for the soul.:D

Cool. I like that road. What time did you set off?

I left home at 6am and got home just after 8. That road is a particularly good one for so many reasons.

Roads over the moor can be very beautiful. I too love the Whitby to Pickering road that goes past the Fylindales and the Hole of Horcum. Another of my favourites is Stokesley to Helmsley. :D

Early in the morning on a Sunday we have (dad driving his scooby) done Blakey ridge (Guisborough to Hutton-le-Hole) in 20 mins, slowing down only for sheep! We take off in places especially coming down to Casleton. What is more impressive is when we take off going uphill in the opposite direction. ;)

I thought Performance Car magazine had stopped and was replaced by Evo, I will have to look out for it.

Did much of that trip while we were on holiday last month - had a few more vehicles on the road to deal with than you did...

Sounds like you 'make good progress' on those runs out with your dad. It's quite easy to get airborne on those roads, I try to avoid it as I'm scared of taking the sump off.:o

As for Performance Car magazine, I prefer it as Evo lost the plot in my eyes. They moved away from real cars for normal people and seemed to focus on machinery only affordable to those on footballer's wages. Performance Car mag at least acknowledges that some of us are on a budget and features cars I might be able to afford.

Can't remember the last time I had a blast just for the sake of it. Gonna have to give the skip a good old run out over the next week or two.

Thanks for the inspiration skinnyman. :D
