Can you use the turbo from an escort RS turbo? both are 1.6 but beyond that. not sure. Maybe there are other similar ones too?

yeah, you are thinking along the right lines, a nice small turbocharger. try to stay away from turbo's from diesels because they are not really intended to be used at the high temperatures that a petrol engine runs at. the other thing to look out for is that some turbos use water cooled turbine housings which will make the coolant/radiator circuit slightly more complicated..

have you thought about supercharging instead?? eaton m45 superchargers can be had for peanuts off ebay
