MK4 Golf GT TDI PD150 v Fabia vRS

Featured Replies

Mate of mine had a 130hp Mk4 and a 150hp Mk4. He said he preferred the 130, it was just nicer to drive.

I remember a road test at the time the PD150 was launched in Golf 4 saying exactly the same, especially given the price difference.

Did they say what was nicer???

I'd guess the 150 would be slightly laggier?

That was basically it. The 130 had a smoother and wider delivery, with not that much less power overall.

I suppose the way most derv's are driven, that extra 150 at the top wouldn't be seen, and the 130 with the smaller turbo would have a fatter mid-range?

I test drove the both the 130 and 150 Golf before I bought mine and I ended up with the 150, the difference at the bottom end is so small it wasn't worth worrying about, I think the 150 turbo comes on song about 200rpm later than the 130.

The difference at the top end is more than 200rpm though, IMO the 130 starts to tail off at 3500rpm whereas the 150 pulls to 4400rpm. The top end of the 150 powerband is more like a petrol engine. They both have to be driven in a different style, depends what you are after.

Where is your dealer?

I'm thinking of selling mine on at the moment..

I'm n Kent but this was Allams Newton Abbott in Devon:thumbup:
