Tyres for under

Featured Replies

Kumho KU31's on mine

Find them very grippy in all conditions, cost was about £220 fitted and balanced, bought them from camskill which were very good.

Wear wise they have done about 10k at the moment and i would say the fronts have another 10k in them and the back maybe another 20k

I paid £80 each for 4 Uniroyal Sports 2 295/45ZR16 tyres fitted and balanced.

I changed my fronts to Uniroyals with blackcircles - very good all round but especially in the wet, very grippy. Not long had them so can't comment on wear rates etc.

Im getting new tyres fitted tomorrow

4 x 205/40R17 ZR FALKEN FK452 @ £71.85

Order Subtotal: £287.40

Order Discounts: £-14.37 (5% Discount)

Thats fitted and balanced by event tyres who are a mobile fitters

Currently im using toyo TR1 which ive been pleased with

Michelin all the way for me, please consider that some cheap tyres dont last very long, so in the grand scheme of things you may end up paying out far more, for inferior tyres

Quiet Tyres??

Sorry guys, Currently got Kumo on the car which are near their end of life. Went for a ride in a VRS with Contential Sport 2 yesterday which seemed alot quiter thant Kumo's. Would anyone say that Uniroyal Rainsports or TR1s are quieter??

Cheers

The problem with opinions on tyres is that most people are replacing old/worn tyres of whatever brand with new ones. As tyres age not only does the tread wear down (so wet grip becomes inferior) but the rubber tends to harden so dry grip deteriorates and the tyres become more noisy. Naturally when new tyres are fitted it tends to be "my new XYZ's are much better/quieter/grippier than the old ABC's they replaced".

To be honest I have always stuck to either 'premium' or the better 'branded' tyres (e.g. Kumho, Falken) and I've never really be disappointed. Some tyres are better or worse at certain things, but the differences between the good tyre brands are not massive. If you look at the differences in scoring on tyres given by Autoexpress and Which? in their tests the difference between top and bottom scores might only be 10% and the differences between the top half-dozen only a couple of percent - and that can change radically if the test writer alters the weighting given to each test parameter.

3 out of 4 on mine are now hankook at £50 a corner fitted they are fine. I pushed it round a tight bend the other day and no issues, just the warning triangle flashing

Fitted Nokian Z's to the front of my car recently, I got two for £100 fitted and they are brilliant. Nokian are now part of the Bridgestone empire if that makes you feel better and mine were even made in Japan, Nokian were previously an excellent Finish brand highly respected in Scandinavia.

These tyres also came top in a recent Which? report. I think Mytyres.co.uk can supply and fit them.

Am i the only one who grudges paying more than £50 a corner? I'm getting two Marangoni Zeta Linea's fitted on the 30th for £115 supplied fitted and old tyres disposed of!

Had Marangoni Zeta's on my old Stilo and found them fantastic in wet and dry

I recently had 4 nankang sport II fitted, suprisingly good for a budget tyre :) So close to the big brand names in performance (replaced yokos on the rear, and pirelle nero's on the front) that I will use the nankangs from now on!

Find someone who is a Costco member. I get Michelin Excalto's fitted for £100 each and quite often thay do 25% off when you buy 4 which don't all have to be fitted at the same time or can be different sizes for different cars.

I got Uniroyals after ringing around for £130 for 2 fitted. grippy in rain and dry but ive done 5k on them and they are down to around 4mm

Price you have to pay i guess

Pirelli zero nero's i got for £63 a corner fitted a little while back, been to germany and all over with them and they've been awsome!

I don't think anyone has mentioned Falken 912s so far, so I'll plug them.

£64 a corner balanced and fitted. Very good all-round tyre for the money...

Ah indeed, missed that one :)

To pay over 80 for tyres is absolute madness!

I had avon zz-1s,best gripping tyre ive ever had,70 a corner, but only lasted a few thousand miles.Currently have hankooks on,much less grip but totally competent for a fabia, and much better wearing!

Mmmmm you say over £80 a tyre is madness, but then say that you only get a few thousand miles out of your sub £80 tyres. Our VRS has just worn out it's second set of Conti Sport Contact 2's on the front and the rears are nearing their end - guess another 5K max - the car has done 40K - looks like good value to me and I've just been quoted £85 a corner for another set of Conti's

I got my conti's from Kwik Fit when they had the 25% off 4 came to 380 i think.

My last set of contis covered 45k

All 4 ?? - I thought I did well with 6 tyres lasting 40K.
