Replacement for the Fabia VRS

Featured Replies

Well, got my new car today, a VW Golf Bluemotion 1.6CRD SE.

Lovely spec, nice car, but OMG its slow....

ho hum.

RBW.

Nice enough cars, but as you say, very slow compared to the VRS.

I've gone from 250bhp in a shoebox, to100bhp in a hearse....

I now play Leonard Cohen cd's on my way to work....

Haha, Im listening to Classic FM.. that helps...

The strange thing is, that the economy is WORSE than in the Fabia. OK the engine is new and tight, but theoretically it should do over 800 miles to a tank. Theres absolutely no chance of that.

RBW.

You have to really drive them like a granny to get the MPG out of them, which of course means even slower performance. I am stuck trying to figure out my next car after the VRS. The economy in relation to the available performance is staggering. I wasn't in the best of moods today (dentist visit) and drove the VRS er, rather hard  Still got 50MPG and the turbo VNT will a lot cleaner

I heard a rumour that the new Astra will come in GSi diesel form using the twin-turbo 190PS diesel from the Insignia. To put that in perspective, the current 150PS Astra does 0-60 in 8.5 seconds so I would imagine that 190PS would drop that to somewhere between 7.0 and 7.5 seconds. Economy figures for the new 160PS are 4.9L/100km (around 57mpg?) combined so I wouldn't expect the 190PS to be a lot less which would make it better than the Fabia. Just a rumour...

...and a Vauxhall....

Sounds good....

A car thats available now that you could consider is the Megane dCi 175 Cup:

Looks / Economy / Build quality may not be as good as the vRS, but I bet the performance and handling would

Buy a petrol if you want a fast car :P

But I want a fast diesel.

...I wouldnt trust a vauxhall with 2 turbos. I think that translates as big repair bills.

Buy a 335d bmw coupe then... goes like stink :o
