2000 plate Fabia clutch?

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

hope this is in the right place!!

Just wanted to ask, I've bought a 2000 plate 1.4 16V Fabia today (love it!!), only thing is the clutch bite is very high!!

I did a search and it seems like this is considered "normal".

I just wanted to ask, is the clutch in this model cable or hydraulic??

And can anyone enlighten me as to if this is normal??

Thanks!

Jemma :D

Moved to the Fabia I forum for you. :)

I've got a 1.4 16v, and changed the clutch at about 60k miles. Before the change the clutch was quite harsh with a very quick bite, although it wasn't what I would call high. The new clutch was much softer and bit more progressively from a lower point.

BTW it's hydraulic and non adjustable.

thank you for your reply!

my father is law is going to be servicing the car at the end of the month...so will tell me if its worth replacing...it is just so high its insane! So im really hoping he will say to get it changed, and fingers crossed it will be better after that.

A high clutch seems 'normal'. My 1.4 tdi gets complaints from my son (who drives a mini one), but it has always been at the same bite point since new and now has 118K. SWMBO has a 2000 W reg SDI and that is even higher; again it hasn't changed in 88K. Whether it can be changed I don't know, but before spending money I'd suggest a quick drive in another Fabia to see how yours compares. A new pair of shoes might make a big difference to the comfort of driving.

Thank you for the advice!

Unfortunately I dont know anyone else who owns a fabia...so I cant compare ;-(

I think I might be worrying, because when I bought my last car (96' Polo diesel) the clutch knackered the very next day, and that had a high bite.

But if this seems to be how the Fabia's are, then I think I might stop worrying so much. If it goes, it goes. At least then I'll know it needs replacing, lol. :D
