Auto Yeti ?

Featured Replies

Having been lured away from Skoda for a couple of years I was tempted back by the prospect of Yeti... hinted at years ago but we got the Roomster... now it has finally appeared and looks very tempting indeed, unusual, stylish and no doubt very well screwed together.

Yesterday the promised leaflet with prices arrived from my dealer and as I looked down the list of options for the best auto options I could only see DSG on the 1.2 TSI engine (no thanks ! ) The blurb I have does not indicate if an auto box is an option on other engines... just thinking out loud but why do they make such good cars, tempt you then deflate you. I suppose I could be tempted by a Superb Estate too but that seems to be a long time cooking but maybe they will remember that we don't all want to be bothered stirring a manual gearbox...:)

DSG coming on Tdi's next year

Nice to see you have the Yeti brochure and prices. I am still waiting!

What does it say about ESP. I understand it is only standard on Elegance models, but on which other models is it optional and how much does it cost? Thanks.

As far as I am aware, no Volkswagen group cars have the old "traditional" auto gearboxes any more (presumably on the basis that they increase fuel consumption and decrease performance). Instead many can be bought with the DSG gearbox instead of a manual box. I understand this can be left to change gears itself if you don't want to control them yourself. Perhaps a test drive at a dealers would show you what they can do??

Don't discount the 1.2TSI till you've driven it. Many make the mistake of looking only at the size but this new engine has a turbocharger and is equivalent (or even better than) a conventional 1.6 in performance, with low C02 and good economy too.

All the TSi units have fantastic low & mid range torque and you really have to drive one to fully appreciate the difference when compared to a much larger capacity normally aspirated petrol. Having come from the 1.6 Fabia to my 1.4TSi Octavia, which is a much larger & heavier car, the superiority of the smaller capacity TSi unit is quite phenomenal in comparison. Add to that superior mpg, refinement and lower emissions make the choice of a TSi, whether in 1.2, 1.4 or 1.8 capacity, a no brainer.

Not quite right; the Roomster 1.6 16v 105bhp Tip is a traditional 'slushmatic' (I've got one) ;)

Alot of VW Group Vehicles still use torque converter boxes, dsg has limited applications as it's more fragile, especially the new 7 speed which cant handle that much torque

Fabia and Roomster both still use a torque converter box, as one of the above posts mentions. Not only this but all the "big" audi models including the RS ones e.t.c use torque converter auto's as do some of the commercial vehicles from VW

If you think torque converters are gone think again, they will be here to drink excessive amounts of fuel for years to come:thumbup: You just cant beat a good bit of slush

maybe they will remember that we don't all want to be bothered stirring a manual gearbox...:)

exactly !
