I suppose something had to go wrong :(

Featured Replies

53000 trouble free miles and we finally have a fault. Well, not so much a fault more sort of a cosmetic issue.

I decided to wash the car today, first time in about 3 months (Been a bit busy), hosing it down with the standard garden variety hose and a flake of paint roughly the size of a 50p piece flew off thr front bumper

Bloody marvellous. I had a similar problem with the VRS although I think this was originated from a stone chip.

Now, what you reckon? Think the dealer with sort it under warranty?

No. :P

Might be able to get it done if you smile nicely :D

I would say it is a warranty issue - clearly the paint hasn't keyed to the bumper.

Personally, I would want the complete bumper properly prepared and resprayed.

Decron, at least it's not a corrosion issue :)

Hope you get it sorted under warranty mate :)

I am thinking, (difficult, I know) is'nt there a 10 year warranty on the paintwork? Or is it just corrosion?

should be warranty tbh

Any paint damage would lead to water ingress and cause lifting like that.

I doubt very much the dealer would entertain a warranty claim.

Just sweet-talk the girl on reception at Captiol ;)

Hi

I would want that sorted under the 3 year paint warranty but what you want and what you get are not always the same thing, :(

At that mileage and with stone chips very close to it, you'll be very lucky to get it sorted under warranty.

She wasn't there, was going to take the baby down with me as she goes all gooey when he is running round putting is mitts all over the new cars.

They have teken photos and sent them off to SUK but I am not optimisitc which is a pain considering how many of these I have indirectly helped to sell :(

And due to surrounding evidence of stone chips they hae declined....

Bummer!

Hmmm not a good result and no sign of goodwill. :(

Why?

It's a good reason for checking for, and dealing with stone chips - especially on painted plastic, and if you use a jet washer to clean the car.

Why??

Well there is a 3 year paintwork warranty and how do you prove that the flaked paint is the result of a stone chip?

If plastic is not a suitable base for paint then dont paint it.

But the warranty doesnt cover stone chip damage. Only manufacturing defects.
