Fastest laps Skoda Fabia VRS vs Seat Ibiza 1.9 Tdi Sport

Featured Replies

Rockingham Track

Skoda Fabia VRS - 1:33.8

Seat Ibiza 1.9 Tdi Sport - 1:32.09!

I know its the ibiza sport but that became the FR so maybe the ibiza has the edge slightly over the Fab VRS?

Depends a lot on driver skills. I did a 1.23.01 in my Morris 1000  (Just Kidding) :D

Ud hope was the same driver in both, furthermore d we have the age of the vRS, as the gear ratio's on the earlier sport might have been better on that specific track over the later FR version, which the vRS shares in later years.

There is an easy answer to this. The FR would be quicker because of the seats. The material used to cover the seats in the VRS has a lower frictional coefficient than the seats in the FR meaning that you won't be able to corner as fast in the VRS as the driver will slip out of the seat earlier therefore will need to drive slower accordingly. The VRS will feel faster but in reality it isn't just because of those seats...

The FR if 3 door will be lighter as well

Were they both running the same tyres?

Was it the same driver (same weight and same driving skill)?

Any Mods on either car?

1.01 seconds isn't much difference given the variables.

Ibiza is lighter as stock I believe. :) Even in 5 door guise. Not sure where Seat achieve this, in comparison with the fabia.

Ibiza IS smaller, despite being the same platform.

In remember trying to fit a dragon box to an ibiza FR 130, and engine bay was LOT tighther than in my vrs

OK it is a SPORT, not FR people, furthermore at no point did they say it was 3dr!

Just face facts ;)

The Sport IS an FR in all but badges and there are so few 5 dr's (Being as it;s a £1200 optional extra) around, it's a good bet

It's all down to the seats.

No it isnt! The Sport has a completly different gearbox aswell as suspension? Hense my orginal question about what year was the Fabia,

The example being on a track if the fabia has the new gearbox, then it might have been slower simply due to the ratio's of the sport suiting the track better?

Yes, very few other things changed, mostly being cosmetic for the Ibiza, but the gear box is a biggie, so much so im looking at changng mine to a EARLIER box as I believe if might be better once running 180bhp+ and esp at 230bhp+

Uuuh not was I was lead to believe after I test drove both prior to buy the VRS because it didn't look like a 1980's Fiat inside.

Finished throwing your dummy out? What relevance has the interior styling got at this stage? None. Talk about trying to get a reaction, which of course wont happen due to the fact I dont have the interior anymore. Which one is better isnt the issue.

The Sport is different to the FR, fact. If you dont like that and was told different, take it up with them. Dont lower yourself to the standard of interior trim please. Its pathetic and not called for.

Simply put the sport has different ratio's and different suspension stiffness over the later FR. I can only again ECHO what I have prev. said and asked for the age of the vRS to see if it was running the same gearbox or not. This would then cancel out that and simply put it down to weight aswell as the odd change the vRS has suspension wise over the Sport?

OMG you have totally got the wrong end of this....:rofl::rofl:

You need to chill and read previous posts.

No, I still say it's down to the seats.

I did find the seat's thing rather amusing! Possibly slighty true aswell going from my mates vRS and it does seem smooooth!

However the interior of a fabia is still something from the 1960's Fiat factory whatever you say no, so ner ner ;)

Yawwwwwn

Whats the point in PD130 Ibiza and Fabia owners arguing?

Theyre the same ****ing car... at least you didnt buy a 206!

They aren't.....

Theyre the same ****ing car...

Have you read half the posts?

at least you didnt buy a 206!

Now they have very grippy seats. I bet it's like it's on rails.....

Yawwwwwn

Keeping you up?

Keeping you up?

Yup.

If you are going to bicker like kiddies, please keep it down a bit

Haha, if only we had Snoopie back, I mean Aaron@...... I forgot.

Think of it as F1.

The force india team vs Brawn.

Same ish car..... Same ish engine..... Different times....

Each car suits a different track and driver preference.

Simples.

Now what if the cloth seats were changed for leather?? Feel even faster

Mate, it would be like driving a 2l Fabia (Which is far faster than the VRS or the FR)

Yup.

Oh dear....... you really have missed the point.

No one is bickering. It's all a lot of hot air and jokes, it pains me to have to explain it all but in typical Fabia forum fashion people have had a sense of humour failure over their Furbies.

It's a shame really, this could have been an entertaining thread.

Oh dear....... you really have missed the point.

No... I'm pretty sure i got it.

Someone made a comment about 2 very similar cars going around the track

The SEAT (NON Skoda) was quicker.

A Skoda owner thought sarcasm about seats was the best answer to the original post.

Most people were mildly amused. the first time.

A SEAT Owner mentioned a few facts about a car he has obviously tuned and researched on.

We get the same (less amusing) comment about seats being the reason and a playground insult about an interior.

A school yard slanging match starts, and the come back is :

Oh dear....... you really have missed the point.

This same retort gets repeated a few more times to anyone who posts in the thread.

I get bored of hearing how many people have missed the point about seats and drift off into a yawn.

Now i'm waiting for a sensible reply from someone with something interesting to say about the original topic.

Did you get the point?
