Fastest laps Skoda Fabia VRS vs Seat Ibiza 1.9 Tdi Sport

Featured Replies

No... I'm pretty sure i got it.

Someone made a comment about 2 very similar cars going around the track

The SEAT (NON Skoda) was quicker.

A Skoda owner thought sarcasm about seats was the best answer to the original post.

Most people were mildly amused. the first time.

A SEAT Owner mentioned a few facts about a car he has obviously tuned and researched on.

We get the same (less amusing) comment about seats being the reason and a playground insult about an interior.

A school yard slanging match starts, and the come back is :

This same retort gets repeated a few more times to anyone who posts in the thread.

I get bored of hearing how many people have missed the point about seats and drift off into a yawn.

Now i'm waiting for a sensible reply from someone with something interesting to say about the original topic.

Did you get the point?

Ahh you did get the point, you just didn't understand/care enough to contribute properly. There was no slanging, not a bit it was all tongue in cheek (Was for me anyway) and if your reading it like that then you probably have it wrong. It has nothing to do withSkoda/Seat or Fabia/Ibiza, nothing at all. Perhaps I did drag it out a little but if you really are that bored you don't have to read it. It's no where near as bad as another tyre thread so pehaps you just need to lighten up a bit. Sorry if it all didn't appeal to you, next time if it starts getting a little tiresome, just read something else, like the Daily Mail.

BTW, sorry I took so long editing that one post, you managed to post your reply before i finished.

Ill let you get back on topic...

Ladies ladies.....Chill.

The Seat is quicker in this instance but like a previous post where someone mentioned was it the same driver.

Give the stig a Fiat 500 and it'll probably post a quicker time than the vRS, just let it go.

The Fabia isn't a Ferrari afterall

I have thanked most posts since i have been on last, what a awesome thread :)

I was just playing, but in a correct stance way, aka I was right :D

So daveyonthemove list of what happened is indeed correct! But its all good.

So basically the Ibiza that I dont own is faster... great! lol

I still vote the difference could ALL be down to the gear ratio's on the fabia being the later box (like my box)

There's only one way to resolve this issue like gentlemen...

10 paces please...

Depends a lot on driver skills. I did a 1.23.01 in my Morris 1000  (Just Kidding) :D
Rockingham Track

Skoda Fabia VRS - 1:33.8

Seat Ibiza 1.9 Tdi Sport - 1:32.09!

I know its the ibiza sport but that became the FR so maybe the ibiza has the edge slightly over the Fab VRS?

Thats not really that much, and it does depend on the driver hugely. One lap is never the same as the last. And altho they are based on the same platform the appeal of both cars is diffrent.

Seat - youthful 3dr

Skoda - Family 5dr

Weight

Seat - 1144kg 3dr - 1169kg - 5dr (FR Trim)

Skoda 1315kg 5dr (VRs Trim)

Ok so if we take into account the 5dr Fr to the skoda, its still thats -146kg LESS!! Than the skoda. thats over 22 STONE :rotz:

And that only makes a 3dr ibiza just over a second faster....fail!

And that only makes a 3dr ibiza just over a second faster....fail!

isn't the difference closer to 2 seconds? it's not just down to the seat fabric, the driver was probably busy squeezing the soft-touch plastics in the Fabia and missed an apex or two

I LOVE these threads!

notice how the thread was started by a very new member (10ish posts) who hasn't been back to substantiate his claims or answer any questions or confirm or deny comments or state any facts?

I may start a new Ibiza v Fabia thread based:

"The Seat Ibiza is made of fish while the Skoda Fabia is constructed of toast"

Back on topic though having moved from an '02 Ibiza Sport to an '04 Fabia i conclude that......

......they are almost identical.

Both are frugal quick small hatches; that with minor work can surprise a lot people, and with major work can be as insane as the Mongrel and T.Sparks 'beezer.

Both have positives and negatives and both had changes in their life span but personal choice and free will rule in the end!

I just dont see the point of posting a thread like this. Were on a skoda forum, and people on here clearly love there fabia vrs. So putting a thread up like this is bound to cause a reaction. Not the sake of a second :thumbdwn: If it was 10 seconds than it would be an intresting read. But there is to many factors to outline ether car as "Faster" Me personally if I had to have ether I would probs have the seat 3dr just because the interior has alittle more flair

Hmm do I reply stating your errors or not.... hmmm

fabia lost because they are pants.....end of:D

What they should have tested the Ibiza against was the 2.0 Sport Fabia...

they shouldn't bother testing these diesel things on track, they are for old people and those who are obsessed with mpgeeee's:thumbup:

And to quote clarkson, skodas are just vw's for mean people:rofl:

I don't love the Fabia vRS, you frickin noob... taking into account the fact that I've no idea what track is like, nearly 2 seconds could actually translate into a fairly large gap between the two cars

fabia lost because they are pants.....end of

that usually iron clad argument doesn't work in this case, the Ibiza is just as pants as the Fabia

Whats your problem?? If you would have read what i put, i said "people" thats refers to anyone.....! Guess you always get one.... :(

 have you read the thread? are you aware of the direction it's taken? the subject has never been taken seriously and neither should any of the posts after #1

you're welcome

:)

Love this thread, this should NEVER be locked no matter what. As said 2 seconds over a 4 second lap is a big gap isnt it... lol.

On a side note, andy I play foul on your siggy! Surely even if you had that speed, speedtest.net shouldnt have it for you to be able to ping! I mean please show me im wrong so I can marvel at that damn speed!! Id be lucky to get 1mb!

Legend. Only thing is, I work for your ISP and we dont have anything with that capacity. Unless your a private customer with a NTE via direct fibre and you pay some serious £££££

I think this thread should be relabled "Chat about anything"

Rant away

just how massive are we talking? could it have carried a cat off in it's claws/feet (what's the right term for pigeon "feet"?)?

I Know why the Ibiza was quicker.... 4 generations ago it was tweaked by Porsche! End Of! ;)

And a thing of beauty it was too...

could be talons or claws but i'm happy with feet :D

i dunno if it'd want a cat. it seemed pretty intent on eating the cigarette butt it was pecking at.

It was huge though. like the size of a small dog! one of them ones that Paris Hilton carries round in her handbag...oh actually they're quite small.....ah....maybe it was just a normal size pigeon and i was closer to it than normal :thumbdwn:

it could still probably get round the Rockingham track faster than an Ibiza or a Fabia
