Hi Guys, please please need help!!!! buying FL Octy VRS

Featured Replies

hi guys, in process of buying new petrol vrs, sales man is an ****!! ringing up every five mins "trying to help" just confusing me with numbers and hard sell! i am trading in a car & van, not to go into detail on them coz not trying to sell on here but basically his opening offer was £12500 for car & £1000 for van and has never moved at all on that.

He is quoting £18515 on dsg vrs with....

Maxidot £108

Xenons £608

Multifunction steering wheel £417

mobile device interface £130

rear sensors £226

Black Paint £347

all he keeps wanting to talk about is monthly payment % and highest amount a month i can go to.

can anyone help, is that a good price for vrs? i payed £16k for car 2 1/2 months ago (dont ask, unseen job offer in which i dont need van and then civic would be too small for only vehicle, so back to vrs land!! any ideas??? i've mentioned Drivethedeal.com price and asked him to match and he talked over me and continued!!! this is my local dealer so a bit stuck, thanks in advance boys and girls.

Nick

wrong price details

You want the price to change, so that's the balance after you deduct the p/x. Don't budge, if you don't think your getting the best deal then go else where. Speak to a couple of other dealers, sounds like you've only gone to one. If you don't get the same price as DtD, go with them! I did!

I hate being talked over too, especially by dealers. I would just demand to know how much for yours, how much 'their' car is....giving you a price to change.....and how long to pay it back.....which should give you a monthly ammount.

Don't forget a spare wheel if you don't want to rely on tyre weld...

The price of the new car seems a bit high. I paid less than that for a CR TDI estate (which is more than a petrol hatch) with the following extras:

Maxidot

Race blue paint

Xenons

Silver roof rails

Spare tyre

Sunset privacy glass

I would try a few other nearby dealers to see if they can come up with a better price (the cost to change is the important figure), and than go back to your local dealer and see if they can beat or match the price.

Seems to be double charging for the maxidot, MFSW and phone kit.

This comes as a package circa £600 IIRC -but must be a DSG to have MFSW.

If you do get it sorted fetch along to the meeting on 26th September.

Cheers guys, keep the info coming, the salesman is useless. originally i spec'd with Columbus satnav and he'd tried to bump monthly finance figures up and i said i'd only go to £265 a month, he said "no worries mate (as he's taken to calling me) i can play with figures and try and sort that!!! 10 mins later phoned back to say he'd got it sorted! the only thing i had to do was cancel the satnav and everyones happy!!!!!!!." trying couple of dealers and someone might be interested buying my civic private! cars! :irked:

remember u can get skoda columbus sat nav off ebay for 500 rather than paying £1,500,000,000 that skoda charge.

ok! good to know, easy to install?? any link with maxidot?

£265 is very very low monthly payment.

How much are you putting into the deal as p/x or cash? Putting in £3k on a similar price with Skoda finance only got me circa £350/month!

Yes, just get the maidot, and buy the columbus later of ebay.

Why dont you get a used one? There are some cracking ones on SkodaUK Used Cars...

There are many VRS's which will have all that kit and much more for 2 or 3K cheaper with maybe 3-4000 miles on the clock.

Just an idea!

.

A friend bought one from buyacar.com and got a grand or so off the dealer price too. I just ordered my nearly new one from a dealer with lots of extras - sunroof xenons maxidot jumbo pack bluetooth phone and got a good deal....

My dealer tried to get me to take skoda finance hire purchase - they make a lot of commission on that which is why im guessing you got the hard sell - it sucks. So I got the trusty bank loan..

Its a shame they dont make this one though:

True, but why buy a car that's been ragged?

Deal is ....

£12500 for 57 plate Civic Type R GT satnav & HFT (at the moment, although he told me it might only be 12k as he won't be getting it until new car is delivered!! another confused moment!)

£1000 for 52 plate Peugeot Partner 800 Van

Settlement of finance is £8000, leaving £5500 for deposit

That'd get it around your figures then.

do you think thats the best deal i'm gonna get or does he sound an idiot!

Still not sure if i can have bluetooth/multifunction steering wheel on manual that he said i could have!

If there are other dealers near you, I'd tell him to back off or you'll walk away. Be honest in that he's being too keen to do a deal, and that will make you walk away if he continues bugging you.

I would and do to pushy sales man. Walked out on one years ago when we were looking for a car for SWMBO. Came back from a test drive and he'd filled out finance paperwork to save time! I took the paperwork with me, and informed him that he just lost a sale and why loudly to a packed showroom. Last I saw as we left was what looked like his manager having a quiet word

No and Nope again, you need DSG. walk away!! yes he sounds an idiot.

He's wrong the BT & MFSW on the vRS model is only an available with DSG. However it's pretty straight forward to fit a OEM BT kit yourself HTH.

I've just bought a '56' TFSI VRS - 20,000 miles, one careful owner (you can tell in the condition of the car), serviced to schedule AND had interim oil changes inbetween by the previous owner. Has lots of extras too - 18", CD Changer, Climate, Parking sensors, Cruise etc etc

It's never been in an accident or had any paintwork done. New tyres all round (fitted by Skoda) and recent brake disks/pads. You could probably describe it as 'faultless'.

Was just over £10k from a Skoda dealer with 14 mths warranty (2 mths left of Manufacturer, 12mths Skoda dealer warranty)

If you look around there are some cracking deals to be had for a slightly older car, and with the Skoda badge up front there are pleanty about that havn't been 'ragged'. :)

If it's needed new discs and "tyres ALL ROUND" at 20k, then it's been ragged! Pads, fine. Discs should be lasting 30-40K, and tyres 20-30k - with rears outlasting the fronts usually by 1/3 IME.

You SURE your cars not been ragged within an inch of it's life? Anyone can valet a car to look nice ;)

Because it can be 2-3 k cheaper, dont have to run it in, has probably had any teething niggles sorted and you can generally find one that has the extras you want (unless you want a built in kettle) - not all are ragged at all. Plus spend your extra cash on a 5star break in New York - like I did :)

One thing you've said would be enough to make me walk away; he's taken to calling you "mate". Nothing guaranteed to p*ss me off more is somebody I don't know from Adam calling me "mate".

It's a buyers market out there at the moment and you should take the time to look around for the best deal. That said, don't just factor it on financials alone - take time to decide which supplier you feel comfortable dealing with. I bought mine from Motorpoint who are the sausage factory of the car world but I knew pretty much what I was getting, for how much and that I could get support locally which outwieged the disadvantages of buying fro them in the first place. I wasn't fussy about spec and ended up suprised with Maxidot, Auto Wipe, Auto Lights, Dimming Mirrors, Jumbo and full size spare. I missed out on 18's (but they are coming!) and the Columbus is on its way from Lithuania. Xenons are a 1hr fit from Hids-4-U and I'm looking at fitting a Golf R32 MFSW at some point.

The rest of the options available are just loading up an already loaded car for the sake of it IMHO of course.

Look around and see what else is out there..........

Good luck with getting 30k out of a front pair of vRS tyres grandpa!

FWIW - I travelled from Orkney down to London to get my vRS TFSi estate just over a year ago and I had a great time from start to finish! I even managed to change the spec on it before it was too late too. Oh, and I'm paying in the £170's PM too....

It's a buyers market out there, so if you're not happy, then just walk. You're in charge!
