Nightschool has resumed again - woohoo! Much better now we have a smaller class and people who know one end of a camera from another. Also good that rather than jus the lecturer telling us what to do (he is giving us homework tho - this weeks is dusk/nighttime photos), the whole group are chipping in with tips on what works for them etc, so its almost a group problem solving session, which I like!

Homework may be appearing on here for your persual / critique!

Sounds fair to me, m'lud.

Nice one, congrats! Have offered my services as a photographer at work, but no takers :( Will see how I get on in the work's photo competition - my 3 best pics from my trip round NZ up against everyone elses! :P

Yeah, credit Miss Legal Eagle! Done the degree and project management qualifications, so going to study something fun for once!:D

Any resident crims on Brisky, I could take the mugshots for their police files, and you could try to keep them out of clink?! You going to specialise in getting out of speeding offences? Reckon you might make a mint! It seems to do well for the lawyer who helps all the footballers escape their driving offence slaps on the wrist!

Ahhh, just what the world needs, another ambulance chaser :D:D:D:D:D:D

He's got to find the time from somewhere to take it up, and my balls are made of meat not crystal so how am I supposed to know you are doing law at night. (That sounds really bad, given my surname):rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:

TIP: select something that's DIFFERENT. Judges like to see something out of the norm, rather than technical excellence. That's how i have got some of my pics published.

Fluff, your meaty not crystal comment nearly made me spit out me brew with laughter! Time is in abundance at the mo, as last day of work tomorrow, so the Job Centre looms for me :thumbdwn:

Hmm, ambulance chaser? I like it! :D:P *Looks around for a newly mopped floor....*

Feel free to tag along on any days out with the cameras, would defo be good to compare notes with someone who has the same one as me, as all my mates including the nightschool class have Canons or Nikons!:o

really like the one of the Humber Bridge

I want to go out and get some traffic trail shots now the nights are drawing in a little.

Hey all, not wanting to hijack this thread I thought it might be worth me posting my Flickr sets up here......

genesis4626's photosets on Flickr

I'm heavily involved in Urban Exploring, and as a result have learned how to really use my camera in some utterly appalling conditions. This has only made my photpgraphy stronger, and as a result have had quite a bit published both online and in print. I hope this of some help to someone out there!!

Cheers

Getting over some of the fences can be tricky :)

I'll be happy to help out if you want, just don't recommend standing on side of the road with hi-vis and camera on a tripod!;):D

You would lose count of the number of cars that would suddenly slow down, which would be no good for doing the trailing head and tail lights! Some of the exposures were 5, 8 10, even 20 secs.

Getting over some of the fences can be tricky :)

I went to do a bit of this in 2007 in Florida, hopped over the fence with my step father of the Splendid China theme park (defunct at the time).

Discovered that even security guards called bubba can carry guns and the police have no sense of humour.

Still, nice coffee in the cop shop :D

Got to find more time, went to RAF Burtonwood before they tore down the last of the Hangers and had a nip round, not much to see though.

Do intend on having a scout around the Transporter bridge in Warrington one night with the camera, now it's getting darker and the security have retreated to a warm portacabin

I know some of the horizons are a tad wonky on the bridge shots, but the River Humber was about to be lapping round my ankles, so had to be quick! Will straighten them etc later, but these are the unedited versions that I will take to nightschool tomorrow and the lecturer will teach us how to best edit them...

I like the last couple in particular. The only thing with those sorts of shots imho, is you can’t print them off and get anything like the effect of a monitor :(

Can you not use a proper photo hosting site like Flikr or Picasa Huw? Just a picky observation as I hate FB with a passion :)

Some nice shots there though. A link on today's NW news gave me an idea as well; maybe you could go out and get some autumnal shots? Maybe if you're days are going to be a bit more free at the moment, and the weather seems to be holding bright and dry...

Cheers Steve, will set up an alternative account, as FB is a pain in the derriere. Thanks for the link too - anyone fancy a trip out? Might have a meander to Worsley Woods (10 mins walk from me), but it can be a bit full of scallys on trailbikes and minimotos sometimes!

Will be posting up some pics from tonight's fieldtrip to Salford Quays - great light reflections.
