New Octavia Price

Featured Replies

Has anyone compared the price of the New Octavia to the old one ?

A local dealer told me he though the estate would be

Its a hell of alot more car.

Rather than compare the Octavia II to the old one, compare it to the MK5 Golf. When you consider its exactly the same underneath as the MK5 Golf except more spacious, then it begins to make sense.

That being the case what a shame that when I asked a local dealer about the new Octy and he impressed me withe the extra rear leg room, the independent climate control Driver/passenger +_ 3 degrees and the fact the sunroof was an extra ......

As I am normally in the car on my own the first two are of little consequnce and the third a negative !

Would agree over the sunroof it is the only real extra I have not added and would of like but at

I guess the deals will become available once the car has been around for a while

I wasn't impressed to see the sunroof becoming nearly a

I do quiet a few miles in my car mostly business and therefore I also play a lot of cassettes when driving - I get talking books from the library. There dosen't seem a facillity to play cassettes in new cars, Is this a problem only I have ?

I think so , yes.

You are right about very few cars coming with cassette players now though

I think as the badge prejudice diminishes the price will rapidly increase.

I bought an Octy vRS three years ago as it was good, solid car comparable to the Golf GTi etc but it was a lot cheaper. I suffered all the old Skoda gags but everyone that has been in it has been impressed. My wife has just bought a Fab vRS, again because compared to similar models from other manufacturers it is good value for the performance and build quality (though it looks like the Fiesta ST may be quite competitively priced when it comes out and we got in pre

I agree Rondo, I feel that Skoda is slowly pricing itself out of the market. New Skoda car are not cheap, they may be cheaper than other VAG cars but many french and far eastern cars are cheaper now and lack the badge stigma. I have always felt that Skoda should concentrate on the sub

Watching 5th gear last night they did a review of the new focus, I was suprised to see that as far as pricing goes the new model is going to be cheaper than the outgoing model it replaces.

I have to agree with the last two comments and in my personal experience some Skoda dealers are becoming a bit complacent about the products they sell. Having just traded my 1 year old vrs in against a 320 bmw sport I got a better deal (over three years) than what was on offer at the local skoda dealer who didn't seem that bothered about selling me a car as I was already "a skoda owner".

There is no reason why a new model should be more expensive than the old. I do not agree with the view that the new Octy is a better car therefore it should be dearer. The competition have also moved on, the Octy should be priced to remain competitive, which it is not. I recently was offered a brand new passat Tdi (base trim) for less than the list price of the cheapest Octy II Tdi (this was from a main VW dealer).

Fully agree. There's no doubt the new Octy looks a good car but it's no longer as competitively priced as it was. I think Skoda may be shooting themselves in the foot and could kill off the impetus they had in the market. Did I not read somewhere (may have been a few months ago) that Skoda sales had actually fallen after a long period of increasing sales.

My uncle went to buy an Octavia but instead bought a Mazda 6 as he could get a better "cost to change" price than Skoda dealers would offer

Not only did the VW dealer offer a Passat Tdi for a lesser price than the Octy II TDi classic but he also offered me slightly more for the wifes 1.6LX Octy. In general they seemed more eager to sell me a car than the Skoda dealer.

Yes put the Passat is old hat now ;-) and due to be replaced by a newer model 1st Quarter 05 so they are trying to offload them hence the special editions.

Indeed , plus the new octy has been selling well so the dealers have no incentives to offer huge discounts

Ok it is what I think about price problem in general

1. vw has some major issues around Europe with price and cost structures i.e. around 17% of total costs are costs connected to labour vs 15% in Renault
