The infamous 17705...

Featured Replies

Scanned my car at the weekend as i've been getting a few mornings where i have no boost at all until i restart the car. The only fault code found was 17705, which lead me to the following thread :

http://briskoda.net/octavia-i/fault-codes-17705-17545-a/7798/

I was just wondering if anyone had any pictures of the hose/pipe in question. I'm gonna go a bit crazy and actually attempt to fix it myself .

Also could this affect my temp gauge? I've changed the temp sensor, however it's still got a mind of it's own.

p.s. Is anyone going to the Frankfurt Motor Show???

Funny enough, I read mine on my el cheapo scanner yesterday, and it came up with that one, and also 17545.

So have deleted to see if they come back

Changed the Y shaped pipe earlier this year, but can't be arsed to go digging for the under manifold pipe, plus I like my knuckles unscraped.......

Due MOT in the next month, but need full service and brakes n' discs all round before

I'll get them to check the pipes while it's in.........

17545 could be a few things, maf sensor, o2 sensor etc

It didnt bring on any lights or anything, its just that I check the code reader from time to time (always in glove box, sat in the car, waiting for SWMBO who is always late......etc etc)

Performance seemed fine too, so wasnt really that bothered.......

This might help :-

Yeh i'm not going to lie, my scanner isn't the most technically advanced, however it does it's job. So is it possible that code is still logged there from earlier this year? as i too had my Y pipe replaced. Surely the garage would have cleared it from then

Doesn't the scanner clear the codes?

Doesn't the scanner clear the codes?

It does, it's just i only used it for the first time at the weekend. I'll clear the code tonight and see if it comes back. I'm really not mechanically minded, so i'm always nervous when i do anything with my car.

that pipe has been subject of a revision "D" IIRC I changed mine for a week then got round to modding the original with an alloy joiner and some nice big T-bolt clamps :D

Once you've got the plastic engine covers off, changing the lower breather hose isn't that bad. The T-piece it connects to is pretty easy to get to as it's towards the gearbox end of the block. Where it connects to the inlet manifold its a little more fiddly, but still not as bad as you'd think.

It's worth doing, because these hoses seem to always go at the same time! And the hose I'm talking about is pretty cruicial to the breather system, as it connects to a one-way valve on the T-piece.

Reference the 17705, I think we've all been there! Try cleaning the TB first, and obviously check the breather/boost hoses.
