R36 stolen - eyes peeled in Manchester please

Featured Replies

According to the Police when mine was taken that's what usually happens.

Or they stick cloned plates on when they park it up.

Yeah, can well imagine.

A cloned R36 is hardly gonna stick it, IMO. Not exactly many about and if the Police are out having a look too, fingers crossed it's not too long before it turns up. Unless it's disappeared into a lockup/industrial estate somewhere :mad:

Trouble is, nowadays, people just think "oh well, it's insured, it doesn't matter, it's only a car". But we know more than that, don't we. Can't polish that big empty space in the garage can you ? Seriously, hope it turns up and the insurance don't f*** you about.

really sorry to see this sort of think happening very sad for all involved

a car like this is either going to be used in a raid or its stolen to order. and as its rare ,will go straight abroad..

chances r u wont see it again but would you want a car back thats had someone rag the nuts out of and sat in your seat i know i wouldnt want it back now

good luck and hope you get the insurance sorted and they burn alive

I'm in Manchester. Will also keep lookout.

When was it taken and whereabouts in Mcr?

These posts IMO are a waste of pixels.

The chances of spotting one car is so small. After all, how many Briskoda stickers are out they, and how many actually get spotted?

But it's on all the forums, not just briskoda. I think it's worth it. It costs nothing and people on VAG forums will notice a car such as this if they see it.

Cheers mate, nice to know you are onside.:thumbdwn:

At the end of the day someone has lost his car through no fault of his own. I too am a victim of this crime therefore I take it very seriously.

It is a bright blue R36. How many of them can you ever recall seeing?

Are the 36s all estates?

Steve

L&B Police have either 1 or 2 R36 silver saloon(s) ATM

OK so they took it by force, you spot them, they see you spotted them. Who knows what they'll do next?

As I say, its ONE car amongst millions. Either in a garage to be used at night for another crime, or stolen to order sitting in a cargo container/lorry that's gone past you heading for the middle east long before it's on a forum. I stand by my post that such posts are a waste of time. Cars are either not recovered, or recovered having been ragged senseless and written off (crash, arson etc etc). You'd seriously want it back?

If you have such a car (R32, Scooby, Evo - even VRS in many areas of UK & Eire), you fit a tracker. All similar quick cars get stolen with regular occurrence. It's why their insurance premiums are going north quite rapidly.

Also, IIRC, a bit different to yours. Didnt they enter through an open/unlocked front door whilst you were in the garden?

I disagree with ths comment for 2 reasons.

Firstly, this forum is FULL of enthusiasts from all over the country. Its probably fair to say that each member on here appreciates nice cars, and would spot something special from quite a distance. This sighting might happen, it may not, but it could make a difference between the offender being caught and locked up, or YOUR car being the next one.

Secondly, Its not hurting anyone by being here, its far more constructive than another question about insurance or tyres?

If nothing else, it could raise peoples awareness about a car theif in their area, and cause them to be a bit more carefull with security.

You may not agree with it, but then you don't have to be negative about it either.

Just my 2p :o

I have owned the skip for only a very short period of time so far (only a matter of weeks). Now I would say that may car is quite individual looking (in a sense a bit like the R36 being mentioned here, which by the way I have never seen one in the flesh) and what are the chances of being spotted you ask? Since ownership I have been approached once in my home town by someone asking 'is that Shiftys old car?' and I was spotted last night in Blackpool (which is over 100 miles from where I live). So far that is twice in a few weeks across the country.

Don't want to get into a difference of opinion again with you here mr gadgetman sir (as last time your fan club stuck up for you and I wouldn't want to incur their wrath again) but I think your statement above is a load of sh!te.

Surely you mean database storage (since all images are used on the rest of the site)... but I'm being pedantic.

If you question the number of Brisky stickered cars that get spotted, then why not just delete the "Spotted" section?

Will keep my Eyes peeled this way incase it's on it's way to Europe

Guys, I saw an R36 exactly like this in Sheffield, at Meadowhall Car Park upstairs at the Boots entrance today.

Unfortunately I hadnt read this thread before seeing it so didn't take that much notice of the reg (I was admiring the car hardly ever seeing any about) but if not that reg, it was something incredibly similar eg. OY08

Im going back down for another look, if its still there as I saw it at 11ish this morning.

Will post up my findings

Cheers

Damian

OK, quick update.

Just been back down there, but unfortunately its gone :(

Went to the security desk and gave them all the info, and they are going to view the tapes of the car park from this morning.

Even though they cant get the people, they may be able to see who got in and out of it

Obviously, this is assuming it is the stolen car, but Im pretty sure it was (The reg was very similar)

They did say that they have ANPR systems in the car parks, and nothing flashed up, so maybe its just a coincidence I happened to see an identical car with a similar reg, the same day I read this thread :o

I really hope it helps anyway

They told me to phone them tomorrow for an update, so I will let you know any news

Cheers

Damian

One more thing, the opening post states the reg as OY08 AFF, but as you can see from the pics, its actually OY08 AAF.

That is the one I gave to the security at Meadowhall anyway.

Cheers

Damian

I will laugh my tits off if it turns out to be the car that was stolen (only because it will prove that these threads can be worthwhile!!)

Fingers crossed.

The reg is actually AAF not as stated in my first post. The guy had edited his post where I got the info from.:o Original post edited.

Good spot that Damo.

I stand by my view on stolen posts.

I've never seen one, on any 'enthusiast' site that has lead to safe recovery, or a prosecution of the offenders.

All cars on such sites are found by the police, or found written off (recalls a car being found burnt out - Audi?)

But hey, we're all allowed our own views, and that's mine.

Now you have...

I stand corrected.

A few forums I am on have lead to the recovery of stolen cars.

A T16 engined 306 was stolen from carlisle last year and was advertised on the local car forum as stolen,

A member on the forum had read the topic before going to work and low and behold he spotted the car was parked at the end of his street !

Had he not read the topic about the car being stolen that day it would probably still be long gone now !

Due to a 'STOLEN' thread on here didn't a posters relative get his car back sooner rather than later due to an police officer reading the thread and actually going out to look for it? Of course in that instance it wasn't stolen simply misplaced , still a worthwhile use of pixels IMO.

If it wasn't for the post it would have simply been another statistic (for a while)
