Focus TDCI

Featured Replies

In Italy on a bit of a tour around, went to collect our car in Rome and there was this filthy (inside as well as out), bashed up Ford Focus TDCI waiting for us :thumbdwn:. Have done over 1000km by now (and not all flat, did not realise Italy was so mountainous), and noticed that the car seemed to be quite economical, so reset the trip comp reading when we filled up this morning.

Just got to the hotel now, having traveled 216.6 km (134.6mls), at an avg speed of 88km/h (54.7mph), much of that at about 110km/h (68mph) on the Autostrada but also a few mls of city driving, and the trip comp is giving a reading of 4.1lts/100kms. That works out at about 68.9mpg:eek::thumbup:. Ok the comp might be optimistic, but even so I am guessing the car has done a real 60mpg + for the trip.

The engine is fairly refined and not too short of power, would have liked cruise control, and radio reception is shockingly bad (prob beacuse of all the mountians), cant quite find the perfect driving position, think the steering does not have enough reach adj and is the bit to far away for my liking, but over all the Focus, battered and dirty as it might be, is proving to be an almost perfect tool for the job at hand .

Focus is a nice drive  mk1 or mk2?
