How do I find out the Felicia GLXi specs?

Featured Replies

This seems like a friendly forum and I've got few questions - I'd be very grateful for some pointers/clues .....

My Dad's been too ill to drive for a while so he asked me to help him sell his car (1998 Felicia GLXi, very low mileage - 14K). He's hardly driven the car since he bought it from its first owner, his sister-in-law, and he's not clear on some of the specifications. I thought this might be a good place to ask for help. :)

1. I can't work out if it has anti-lock brakes or not. Am I right in thinking they are standard?

2. I doubt it has alloy wheels but if it did what would they look like? The wheels do have badges on them.

3. It has two-colour cloth upholstery - is that standard?

4. It has central locking but the keys have a button on them and a tiny lamp thing - does that mean it was once remote locking or are they just tiny lightbulbs?

I hope someone can help me answer these questions - thanks in advance. I can take photos if it would help - I was going to get it cleaned first.

there's no remote locking on a felicia, the lamp is just there to make it easier to find the lock in the dark.. i think abs was standard fit on a glxi but was optional on others but i may be wrong

Not sure if ABS was standard on the GLXi (don't think so), but you should see an ABS warning light when you first put the ignition on, which should then go out.

Alloy wheels' appearance could be many - they did a lot of Skoda wheels, plus they could be aftermarket. If they're steel, they will be 8-spoked and silver, with a plastic centre-cap that unclips easily. If you put a finger on the spokes of the wheel, you should be able to feel their thickness (about 3mm) if they are steel. The steel wheels were designed to look alloy-like, and are pleasant enough. Pics of the wheels would have it answered definitely in seconds.

I'm not sure if remote locking was an option, but it's certainly possible that an aftermarket kit has been fitted to do it; can you post a picture of the key/button thing?

Thank you, TeflonTom and djaychela. That was fast! I'll check for the ABS light over the weekend when I get it cleaned, then I'll take some photos too and post again next week.

I had a GLXi for a while. Mine didn't have ABS - although I think it was an option. There were quite a lot of optional extra's including electric windows, alloys, and remote central locking. My first GLXi didnt have electric windows - my second one did! I fitted alloys to mine, however quite a lot came with trim's. I hope thats some help - do post a picture up - it must be one of the lowest mileage Felicia's in the country!

My Felly GLXi didnt have ABS or leccy windows.

PAS, elec mirrors, errrr and a sunroof!

I think that they have electric mirrors, height adjustable drivers seat and a removable storage box in the centre console as standard.

I had a 1996 GLXi. Electric nothing! Central locking but no remote, I think you had to get the SLXi for ABS, alloys etc.

(Of course the spec could have changed by '98)

Wow, only 14K from new, whats the bodywork like? sounds like it could be a minter, how much are you wanting for it?

Regards

Paul

Try looking here

Equipment - Parker's

or here if it is an estate

Equipment - Parker's

As you will see, there were several different versions of the GLXi, and the equipment levels differed, depending on which engine you had as well.

I hope this helps

:)The only Felicia [uK spec] to have ABS as standard was the SLXi. It was optional on other models.

My brother has an S reg 1.6 estate, from memory

Electric mirrors

Headlight height adjustment.

Manual windows all round (operated by whisks as his son calls the winders)

PAS

Central locking (not remote)

Steel wheels with hub caps.

Front fog lamps,

Pop up / removable sunroot.

Thats about it from memory

What about the L&K? All L&K's that I know of have ABS I'm sure.

Thanks so much, everyone. I think I've worked out, with your help, that it doesn't have alloy wheels or ABS or remote locking. I got it cleaned up today and I've put pics up at http://flickr.com/gp/geekanddiva/f4n438. The link is supposed to override the "friends only" setting - let me know if it doesn't work for you.

I'm no car expert but it seems to start and run very nicely.

The bodywork seems in very good condition. I took pictures of the wheel arches since I'd heard they tend to go to rust. It's hard to price it when it's only 1/4 the mileage of others similar. Online valuations are varying wildly. I'm just writing up the specs now.

The link doesn't work unless you are a member of Flikr.

If it is in really good condition, put it up for £1000 and see what happens.

Thanks. As you say, I'll see what happens.

I've moved the pictures to a gallery on my own site.

Cool. That's working now! Looks very tidy!

Just noticed where the Red line is on it?! Is it a 1.6 then?

The red line? Feeling a bit stupid - I don't know what you mean.:o

Yes, it's a 1.6.

Sorry I mean on the Rev counter where literally the "red line" starts which is where the engine rev limiter will stop the engine from revving any higher. Just never realised it was lower on the 1.6.

I can't believe I didn't mention it was a 1.6. I forgot to write that in my first post - sorry.

I see more 1.3's around - they were the more economical model, I suppose.

Hehe... it's alright. Actually i seem to think they only did the spec GLXi with a 1.6 and the LXi with a 1.3 although could be totally wrong of course! I don't know the trim levels etc too well! lol

I think some GLXi models had a 1.3 only the SLXi was a 1.6.

My 1.6 Felly was quite economical, the 1.3 I havent found to be better, but it seems to rev happier at times.

I think the 1.3 came in most trim levels. There are so many variations its incredible - plus the options list.

Your Dad's Felicia is in fantastic condition - you should be asking a bit more than £1000 especially with it being a 1.6!

You might have a point about asking more than £1000. Now I'm a freedom member, it seems I'm ok to ask for advice on how much to ask for the car (as far as I've seen from the forum guidelines). Should I start a new thread?

The rev limiter on my son's 1.3Gli does not seem to work; he managed to over rev to 6,500RPM once, while he was trying to change gear!!

I gave him a right *******ing!!!!!
