How do I find out the Felicia GLXi specs?

Featured Replies

I reckon as that one is a facelift it will have ABS.

I had a pre-facelift GLX 1.6 which had no ABS or power steering, bloody good fun that car and pretty fast too!

The rev limiter on my son's 1.3Gli does not seem to work; he managed to over rev to 6,500RPM once, while he was trying to change gear!!

I gave him a right *******ing!!!!!

Oh aye... they will rev right up to there

You would know if it wasn't working (common fault) it would only ever either read zero or 4500rpm... like mine

But the red line is at 5,500RPM, so shouldn't the rev limiter cut in at that point??

(Based on the fact that it has done so on every other car I have ever owned.)

No that is just FYI but the rev limiter will cut in after the red line starts on the dial. The limiter is there to avoid causing damage to the engine. Actually 6,500 rpm seems too high to rev to... maybe the limiter is set at 6,000. I know you can get a tuned ECU that allows the engine to rev to 6,500rpm or there abouts.

I've just looked at the rev counter on mine and it exactly the same but for some reason I had it in my head that the had a higher red line than 5,500rpm but it is the same. Although i think it is more willing to rev up to that than the 1.6 from the comments i have heard before.

I'd say ask around £1,000 for it due to the low mileage and condition, right colour too!

But you need to get someone who knows paintwork to sort out those few rusty scratches first, and change the bodged rear light. That sort of thing puts buyers right off and negates your chances of getting a very good price for it due to the low mileage.

Nice car :)

I dont think the lovable 1.3 has a rev limiter!!! it just goes to however high it wants to!!

Yes it does! I have had it "kick-in" many a time. ;)

My mate had a Favorit - and thrashed it like nothing on earth. I have always respected my cars and would never do anything like this. Sitting still he revved it all they way to 8000rpm, and he regularly took it well over 7000rpm when in gear! I used to go mad at him, but he didn't care.

As for my driving I never go near the redline - it is there for a reason! I usually stay at least 500 - 1000 rpm away from it. Most of the power from an engine appears to be lower in the rev range anyway, so whats the point!

Anyone else with a 1.3 care to say if their rev limiter works?? Please state if it is the MPi version or not

If we get a biggish split vote it could mean that there is a previously unnoticed fault developing with the ECUs; al la the "thirsty" problem with older VW 1.4 ECUs.

Well as I have already said mine has it. you sure yours doesn't?! I'd be very suprised!

Just sit and rev it (very hard!) and the revs should bounce at the top of the rev (as fuel gets cut). it won't sound nice but it's the only way to check really.

I don't generally thrash mine but if I need to dispatch a tailgater from behind me or do a swift overtake then I will give her some stick. I have noticed that after a while of "grandad" driving she usually kicks some crap out the exhaust if I rev her up a bit.

I think it is could to regularly take the care to a high RPM anyway. It's what manufacturers recommend during a run-in process on a new car. It can help show up faults if there are funny noises occurring at a higher RPM that are otherwise unnoticeable at lower RPM.

You sure you got that right!? 8000rpm! That's V-tec territory! lol

Just to let you all know - I advertised it in the street (near a tube station) at £1200 and accepted an offer of £1100.

I hadn't driven it much but I quite liked it. I found it easier to handle than my 2001 Honda Civic (1.4 SE 5Dr hatchback). I liked that it felt a little more powerful and was also more forgiving on the clutch - I drive more jerkily in my Honda. Tight steering wasn't as nice though, and I would have missed my creature comforts if I'd had to replace the Honda with it - all those electrics make life pleasant.

Thank you for your help. I'll be back here if I buy a Skoda next - certainly a possiblity.
