Fabia convenience system problem!!

Featured Replies

Hi,

I'm having a re-occuring problem here which is going to end up in my car being stolen or something!

Basically when I lock my car probably about 60% of the time it locks fine, and the lttle red light by the drivers door locking pin flashes to show it's correctly locked. However the other 40% of the time the light doesn't show. I try unlocking and re-locking the doors but it just won't show - I'm not sure this is related to the problem that follows but it's the only thing I can link to it:

anyway, it seems when the red light doesn't flash and I lock the doors about an hour - 2 hours later both front windows will fully open and the locks pop open!

This is a serious problem as you can see and seems to be happening more and more often probably about 5 times in the last week. I've kept checking on the car every hour or so and the windows are up, then when I got up this morning my neighbour knocked to tell me both windows are fully open and it's raining...

If someone can give some advice that would be great. I've tried removing the central locking fuse but the boot stays unlocked if I do that..

Thanks in advance

I think this issue is to do with the convenience unit rather than the central locking itself, so try removing the fuse for that (think it might be on one of the electric window circuits, actually). If that doesn't work, try disconnecting the battery for a few minutes to reset all the controllers. If that doesn't work, a fault code scan is probably needed...

Try locking the car and allow a couple of minutes for the system to settle. Now thump each door frame to see if you can get the fault to occur. If it does, it will be bad solder connection on one of the control modules.

As said, code scan might narrow the fault down.
