Guess where my entire exhaust compressor wheel is?

Featured Replies

Yup - well, it's not in the turbo anymore!

Diagnosis today showed the entire wheel had come away and must now be sat at the side of the Nurburgring! :D The other wheel looks to be intact but a little bent, which is good news for possible intake side damage. The engine has been run for a few seconds and it was fine.

Once I get some measurements I'll be ordering my new turbo. Garrett 2260vk coming my way.

Interesting, who/how are you going to sort out the manifold mate? I looked into the 2260vk IIRC its the V6 3.0TDi turbo? Assume once hybrid its good for 300-340bhp?

Someone's running it at 300bhp in Europe as stock. :D I gather it doesn't need hybrid'ing and merely attaching it to a 1.9 manifold is "hybriding" enough for it. Although he has R783 and a posh cam and some bigger valves too

Should be a wheel there I think? :D

Nice reliable motor you've got there.

How did you get the car back from the Nurburgring?

RAC brought it back and in the process, their courier knackered the back-end, but that's another story.... I just want it mechanicall working again. The boot & bumper is just cosmetic.

Good effort Jason! Yours is definately 'well oiled' after that incident! Hope you get it sorted soon, hope the RAC sort the cosmetic stuff out too. They have been excellent to deal with from my experiences recently.

Once again your optimism amazes me

A true inspiration to us all !!

Get well soon mongrel !

Any diagnosis on why? Too much diesel going in perhaps?

How do you plan on mounting the V6 turbo to the 1.9mani? I was looking at two things

1. Custom manifold (no one/where cared enough to look into it)

2. Modified 'plate' between the two...

Assume you are doing the latter.

You getting a port & polish done at Jabba I assume? What about a cam?

I need bigger injectors god damn it :D

Lucky it didn't try and exit through the bonnet.

Our 8V manifold for the diesel engines allow a Garret fitment, we've been using them with GT25V base turbos..

I was still waiting on that back in early 2008 when I was talking to you (for a good 30mins about my plans!) but the turbo went shortly after and needed a replacement, so just went usual hybrid pd150 route.

If/when I pop this one, I will no doubt be in touch to upgrade again

Getting flanges sent for manifold and downpipe, with the turbo. Have asked about a tubular manifold though. ;)

You are a bad person Mr Jason, you know that!

Oh dear Jason. Ah well, onwards and upwards :D

Steve

By the way jason, the stud pattern is the same as a 8v Corrado G60, so if you find a good, cheap tubular manifold for a g60 that will fit in a fabia engine bay it'll fit :D
