the big pipe fell off

Featured Replies

hey guys

long time reader first time poster!

bought a 06 black magic vrs (50k miles) in june past there.

was driving home last nite and felt like i had the power just failed mid boost, pulled over asap just in case.

looked under car this morning to find a 3" pipe hangin out from under the engine bay(drivers side just behind the front wheel). turns out this is a mid connection to another pipe that heads up to the intercooler.(in front of drivers front wheel)

was able to use clip to hold the pipes in place but have not driven it yet. has this happened to ne1 before and if so, did using the clip that failed once hold it for any length of time? wot would be my plan of action? are there any faults that may now arise due to this happening? i have no dashboard lights coming on and no warning/service lights?

Pipe joints wear so the clips fail to hold it together. Ideally replace pipe and clips, or you can do the cable tie repair to take pressure off the joint. You want a cable tie either side of the connection, then two cable ties linking the first two together across the connection. Place cable ties opposite to the clip holding points.

it was a pretty tight fit to get it back the male side to fit back into the female end. I have a pretty much unlimited supply of cable ties in work so ill get it reinforced tomorrow.

Thanks very much
