Walls...

So the remaining boards were put to good use and the project is really starting to take shape, we used moisture resistant boards in the bathroom for obvious reasons then had the whole lot drylined and filled by professionals. not only did this save our sanity because it is a very labourious and dirty job but i really wanted to get as good a finish as possible! I'm happy to have a go at most things but this task i was happy to delegate :D

The drylining (or drywalling for all you Canadians:D) basically involves filling the gaps between the boards with a plaster of paris type mix (mud) then applying a wet tape over the joins the another finishing layer of mud which is sanded to smooth. the boards actually have a tapered edge along the length to allow for this, there's a real art to getting it perfect and i aint no artist!

Along the same lines as Babs, I thought it looked quite like you were opening a new up-market restaurant :D

So now its time for a bit of carpet, the single biggest outlay of the whole project at just shy of 2500 of your British pounds :( but well worth it :D

also took the opportunity to add some AV shelves and plumb in some fun stuff

speakers and sub in place

0074.jpg

bedroom

0064.jpg

AV Shelves: Denon AV amp, HD PVR, 120gb PS3, UK Dvd player and centre speaker

and then we came to the bartop tiling and after literally weeks of trying to find something a bit different (and not too expensive, easier said than done)

we eventually settled on these....

difficult to see but they're kinda sorta 3D holographic type effect, in glass

0077-Copy.jpg
