Octavia VRS MK2 performance stats unchipped!

Featured Replies

I have had my vrs for nearly 2 years now and apart from a freak accident with the engine bolts snapping off the mount (which got repaired under warranty) its been a pleasure to drive!

GREAT handling, functional carrying large items avoiding hiring vans and GREAT performance.

I have now done 40K miles and have recently tested my speeds on an airfield ;)

Now my car has never been chipped, I use reccomended oil and Shell V Power Diesel fuel and have 17" wheels, so fairly standard!

The only thing I have done differently is driven it in VERY hard from day 1

Stats below

0-60 7.5 secs

0-100 17.5 seconds

60-100 10.5 seconds

top speed 146mph

I have had numerous drag races with golf gti's 200bhp version and the petrol vrs and beat all of them.

recently beat a D3 Alpina (old 200bhp model) and in the midrange hold my own with all petrols up until about 280bhp, which includes S3's Astra VXR, Cupra's etc etc

I am considering getting it chipped and reccomendations on where to go are welcome?

Not sure what BHP and Torque I am putting down, but must be 180+ and 375+ surely?

What are other peoples experiences with their cars prior to chipping?

Cheers

Sam

Some very bold claims there sir! :)

Edit: beat me to it dstev2000

How did you measure the speeds?

Measured on I Phone with software package specifically for this.

Granted it may not be 100% accurate..... but I would not post a BS statement, why would I?

Not a time waster and have no agenda, just wanted feedback on your experiences, thats all.

Sam

No offence intended fella, but a standard vRS TDi would not beat the cars you list

If you have beat them, then your car must have had some tuning done on it, prior to your ownership, and even then I still think it would struggle against such opposition.

Alternatively you must have been a far superior driver than your opponents ;)

And as for your measuring device, take it with a large pinch of salt

welcome to the forum sam.

im going to throw out a wild guess that most peoples experiences arnt as enthusiastic as that mate.

think about it mate, a 280bhp TFSI engine is putting out equal if not more torque than a standard TDI vRS as well an additional 110bhp over a longer rev range. there is absolutley no way you could hold your own with a car of that output.

the std vRS TDI snd std TFSI are very similarily matched though, although id very much doubt there would be a thrashing in hand.

a remapped vRS TDI would however be much much more capable. quite a few guys here have done this

on a side note i have driven an std S3, have a stage 2+ vRS my self and have diven other stage 1 and 2 TFSI's as well as driving a friends GT TDI 170 golf. They would have no chance of staying with a non std TFSI unless as Damo said yours has had some form of previous tuning.

Happy to accept how I measured this is not as accurate as its claimed to be guys.

Re holding my own with the cars I mentioned, to clarify this was only between 70-100, after then, they left me for dead as their additional BHP kicked in.

However, I have beaten a number of VRS petrol 200BHP and Golf 200BHP, I was half a car behind until 60 and then I pulled half to 1 cars difference 70-80 onwards stopping at 130ish.

Re driving skills, I did used to be a professional downhill mountain biker, but I doubt that would make much difference apart from reactions ;)

Any ideas where I can stick my car on a rolling road and cost, in brum and would love find out where I am more accurately

a good dyno dynamics roller is what you want to put it on. not sure how far you are from JKM in portsmouth but they are very accurate in their readings as alot of dyno results are pretty exagertaed at times.

to be fair though mate if your happy with the performance of your motor it doesnt matter really.

lol, no difference fella

P-Torque is very near you, and they have a rolling road

I have just ordered a VRS TDI and i would say it is good at covering distance quickly but compare to car i have currently it is slow. The Z4 is 3 seconds quicker to 60 and at the traffic lights my friends 170 bhp audi a4 cant get close. If I wait for him to finish spinning his tyres then st off I can catch him and overhall in the lenght of a junction. The thing is that you never rearly get to use all 265 bhp as you are on the brakes again and worry about your lisence. I found the octavia had enough power that it is fun to drive and that is why I ordered one but it is by no means a very quick car. Although I think it would get you some ware thicker than the Z4 as it easy and comftable to drive fast.

I think I too have to agree with most of the replies here. I have been with and up against most of the cars you have and can say that they will all pull away some slower than others but they all will.

The Autocar roadtest 30-70 figures also prove that they will, especially the further up the MPH.

Over the last 2 years I have collected this figures.

my car a4 170 GTI r32 vxr RX8 ST 330d a4 3.0 c320d Bravo

0-60 8.4 8.4 6.7 7.1 6.4 6.2 6.5 6.5 8.6 6.5 8.6

30-70 7.6 7.7 6.3 5.9 5.7 6.8 5.6 5.3 5.9 6.2 7.8

through gears

IS220D Type R mk6 Gti Mini JCW

0-60 9.3 7.1 6.6 6.2

30-70 9.3 6.3 6 5.4
