Toyota Auris

Featured Replies

Last week i went to the emerald isle for a week touring about in the Galway area and ended up hiring a Toyota Auris1.4DiD, when i picked it up from Dublin Construc..... err i mean Airport... i was not expecting much and it lived up to expectations. Apparantly it has 90 Horses but i suspect they had escaped and were living somwhere on a dublin housing estate i passed by (got lost slightly), handling was OK (on par with my dads '05 corolla) but i dunno what the car was doing with the fuel.... licking it or something.... i drove over to galway then all way down to Bunratty and over to the cliffs of moher and back to galway before the ||||| type display moved, but as the trip computer was displaying litres per 100km i dunno exact figures.... it was a pleasure handing the car back at the end of the week.....

i drove over to galway then over the cliffs

You liked it that much then ;)

What was the l/100km reading on it?

i dunno.... dont think it had a trip computer....

I had an Auris as a courtesy car when my company car (a nasty Avensis) was being serviced. The interior was ok - much better than the Avensis - but it was gutless and no fun.

My dad has the 2.0d version and even though it can shift quite well - it is soooo boring to drive and even worse to be a passenger. Mind you, it suits him and my mum perfectly and I think that's exactly the problem. They don't like to feel anything i.e. inertia, lateral forces or any kind of sensation that they are moving. The Auris is perfect for this.

Mind you, the diesel engine is unbelievably quiet compared to the 2.0 VAG unit.
