225/45/17 on tt comps will they fit a fabi vrs

Featured Replies

Can anyone tell me if tt comps with tyre size 225/45/17 will fit a fabia vrs

running 205/40/17 on my Roomster Scout 17"s and the TT Comps 17"s on my Fabia

I think you need the 40 profile tyre if your going to keep the right rolling radius for your speedo.

The 40% aspect ratio profile on 225's is still a bit too large, as the rolling radius is 3.55% larger than the standard 205/45 r16.

The second figure is the height of the tyre side wall expressed as a percentage of the width. So if the tyre is wider, but has the same aspect ratio, the wall will be higher and the overall diameter will increase.

You should really aim for only a 2% difference otherwise you will start to have issues with the speedo readings, possible rubbing at extremes of suspension travel and lock, and rolling resistance.

The tyre calculator chrisw880 posted will help in finding the right tyre width and aspect ratio.

I've seen somebody fit 225/45/17 to a Seat Ibiza MK4 and the inside of the tyre was catching the base of the spring seat on the front shock.

DANGEROUS

225 wide tyres on a 17" rim don't fit the Fabia arches properly. Simple as that. You will get rubbing and issues on full lock.

Either fit 205/40/17s or 215/40/17s to them.

:+1: What Steve said.

PM member L-Y-K as he is currently runnin these wheels (with 205/40/17 I think). He will tell you what size tyre he actually has got and if there are any issues.

I know we harp on about searches and everything, but I really can't see how ones like these keep coming up

I ran these in 2005. Ross had some on his Fabia in 2004 I believe. This isn't a new idea and it isn't new information. The tyres required are the same as they were then - 205/40/17 or 215/40/17. I went for the latter and had no trouble at all. The same choices have been made by dozens of people...

Thank-you :)

sorry wardy but if it bothers you so much you shouldn't have bothered replying sometimes people need a quick answer and sometimes it takes forever on the search engine also there were other reasons I couldn't spend hours trailing thru the search facility but thanks for your input all the same and cheers to all you folks who supplied some quality answers and helped me not make a huge mistake on spending alot of cash on some useless rubber

I gave you a straight answer in Post 7, which corrected the incorrect information in Post 2. But you're welcome, don't mention it ;)

225/35/17's would fit on if you were running porsche wheels with 20mm hub adapters:D;) so not entirely incorrect in post 2

Shut up Gary, that's clearly not relevant here! Stop making trouble :D

Though why the hell you'd want to run a 17" wheel with a 35-profile tyre is beyond me!
