Picked up new FL TDI Vrs

Featured Replies

I picked up my new diesel vrs on Thursday, trading in a 06 petrol vrs. Thought I'd type up a few observations so far.

I spec'd the leather with heated seats, there was some debate as to whether you could have the two options together. The definate answer is yes you can! Am loving the leather smell!

I notice some people have found the ride in the facelift firmer than than before. This appears to be the case in the vrs. To me the car feels more composed in the corners than previously, with less roll (although I've not pushed it hard yet). I travel to work down some country roads which are not in the best condition. Although it feels a bit firmer, it doesn't feel uncomfortable.

Having moved from petrol to diesel the economy is nice, although the engine is not super quiet. At 80mph (on a private road) the engine makes itself known a bit. I'm hoping it will quieten down a bit once it's bedded in.

The Bolero radio is good, although I'd advise fiddling with it whilst parked up first to get to know it as whilst driving it can be a bit distracting looking at the screen to know where to touch.

Finally the new dash, I like the new style. Just not so sure about the backlight. Think I prefer the old green glow. Driving home with a headache it just felt a bit harsh.

All in all I'm rather pleased with the new motor. :D

How does it compare, grunt wise, to the petrol Vrs ??

Grunt wise I'm not sure yet, the engines still tight so I cant say yet how it really compares. However, it certainly gives you a bit of a shove in the back and picks up speed at a reasonable rate. You dont get the same buzz you get from winding a petrol engine round, the noise in the diesel just sounds (imo) rough. If you watch the speedo it certainly shifts, you just don't quite get the same sensation of speed you do in the petrol, whether its the engine noise or what I'm not sure.

Get a performance filter into it and it will help produce a bit of a sporty growl.

Your new car sound great and I am waiting for my new vrs tdi cr to arrive. Would love to see pictures of your new motor including the full leather, my dealer messed up my order and I am getting full leather without the heating but sxxt hapens, I did however get a handsome goodwill gesture for there incompentense.

Apols for the delay, had a dose of the flu and been out of it. Took a few interior shots, not great as I was not 100% with it!

Few extra notes on things I've noticed:

The head restraints are softer than before.

The car seems to wander less on the motorway.

There's a tad more wind noise and there appears to be more road noise (could be the tyres though).

The Xenon lights are rather good, the corner function/AFS works quite well.

which filter can you recommend?

I use a K&N panel filter but there are other makes (Green,Pipercross, ITG etc etc)
