Not so gutted now - My new FL vRS with Leather!

presumably I can buy the fl badges from a dealership?

I sure the dealer can order them for you if they are not in stock. Superskoda have the FL vRS badges (inc front grill), but I am not sure about the Octavia one (their postage can make things expensive though).

Hi Mate those leather seats look great but I would say that as I have the same in my FL Vrs estate, I noticed you don't have heated seats like me and as it has been very cold in the last two weeks I have found them very pleasant to sit in even without the heating elements, this may be due the fact that part of the centre and back are perforated and not as cold as the outer edges. love the colour as I used to have a race blue hatch. I also find the CR much more smother that the PD just waiting until superchips have found a way to program my one through the bluefin route as I have the 2010 Bosch ECU and they still can't communicate through blufin yet.

Enjoy that great car look spot on.

Regards

Glad that I went for the leather, especially as it was a change from my PD vRS. I have not found them to be as cold as expected, and the weather has been pretty bad. Still surprised that the heated seats are not listed as an option with the vRS leather seats in the brochure, even though the dealer can spec it via the ordering system (if they know what they are doing, and you actually realise that they can do it).

Thanks to everyone for the comments about the car. Loving it :)

Still loving the car :)

Called in at the dealers today (Simpsons), and the Sales Manager who was the root of my problems with buying the car has 'left' the dealership ;)

Yep. You are a long way from Southport to recognise it!

Enjoy yours.

I'm from Seaforth originally, and lots of Sunday afternoons spent with grandad in Southport when I was a kid :)

Mind you that road along the seafront is a challenge at speed, a bit like camel riding :D

The road is definitely not getting any better, it is not so bad in the front seats, but the kids hate it the back. The side nearest the sea is the worst, such that late at night I will even drive down the wrong side of the road.

Then again my Dad managed to take the exhaust off his car a number of years ago after he had just re-built the engine. He was not chuffed!

I never completed the story about getting this car, so now I have had it for a week here is the update ...

The original thread was:

http://briskoda.net/...ong-car/156824/

Whilst waiting for the new car to be delivered, the Sales Manager told me that he had found me another car that was already at the UK docks. The only thing was it did not have Maxidot. After playing around with a couple of cars in the showroom, with and without, I decided that I would rather have a car four weeks earlier and not have the Maxidot, so decided to proceed. I would still get the price reduction and the free servicing as previously agreed.

The car was due in a week, but on the day before it was due the Sales Manager got in touch to say that this car was in fact an estate :surprised

At least this time I did not get to the showroom. So it was back to the Week 41 car (the one I eventually got) and by way of further compensation I got the Maxidot and the Spare wheel at no charge.

By way of a final twist, when I got to the showroom to pick the car up they had managed to put the wrong number plates on it, but at least this was an easy fix!

The car was from Simpsons of Preston, and it is a shame really because the level of service I have received in the past has been very good. The Service Dept are very helpful, and salesman who handed the car over was also very good.

All of my dealings were with the Sales Manager who admitted to his mistakes and sorted out the compensation, but who seemed to think that the financial compensation somehow made up for all of the grief that I had experienced. Not so.

Anyway the car is brill

My wife bought a nearly new Audi A2 ,which was 2 months old at the time and had different number plates front and rear. They were really red faced and had to recall the other car to replace theirs as well !!

The owners of the other car - did they not notice??

That's alarming!

They had been driving it for 7 weeks!!!

Bloody hell.

Finally got it and it's brilliant! Some pictures of my pride and joy:

Must admit I like the control of a manual and didn't even consider the DSG. I am also not convinced of 'autos' with diesels as you don't need to rev them out, but this is speaking as someone who hasn't tried the DSG.

However with a petrol that would be a different matter ...

As a final, I hope, update on this, I hit a pothole the other night and 'popped' a tyre and went to fit the spare wheel which I was glad that I had ordered.

However when I got the locking wheel nut out, it was the wrong one :o

It would appear that the Sales Manager had acquired the spare wheel from a car that they had in stock, and had swapped the whole thing over including the locking wheel nut!

I went back to the dealer and they are sorting me out with the correct locking wheel nut, and have temporarily have fitted standard wheel nuts so I could get the tyres changed.

I believe that there is an Octavia Scout driving around Scotland (that is where they think it ended up) with the wrong locking wheel nut as well!

Thanks for the comments. Even Babs likes it, even if it is a diesel!

Some comments:

Engine is so much more refined and smoother that the PD unit. It lacks that initial punch, but after that it is more linear in its response. It doesn't feel any slower (within the constraints of running the car in). The PD engine can be a bit 'clunky' in traffic, and the CR engine is much better.

They have also changed the door seals and the door mirrors, coupled with the engine, makes it a lot quieter.

I'm glad I went for the leather as it was a shame they didn't change the seats at all for the FL. I like the new dash with its white lighting; it is very clear and easy to read.

The new stereo is also an improvement and sounds a lot more punchy. However, it is a pain that the volume knob is now of the left hand side of the unit and miles away to reach. Why aren't steering wheel controls standard, or at least an option on the manual vRS? :thumbdwn:

The ride feels a bit harder. The steering and the gearchange feel a bit lighter, but this may all be due to the car being new.

I love the new front end and the DRLs.

Generally they appear to have tweaked many parts of the car and made a whole host of improvements.

It is now the car that I really wanted when I originally got my PD vRS :D

Thanks for sharing your pics with us......enjoy!
