brakes and body

Featured Replies

t'other day my brakes started to make a grinding noise only ocasionally (strange), i went to a garage and they said my front pads has plenty left, my back ones are ok for a while but i have a corroded disk(causing grinding). They quoted me 100quid 2xdisk n pads fitted but said it wasnt urgent, would this be a bad move. If so what disks and pads are recomended at a decent price, iv heard you can put octy one on,is that a myth? Oh and does anyone know of good places for modded body styling grille, bodkits and the like? Iv looked on here and cannot find much other than perfomance mods not much styling. Thanks alot

Can you take the wheel off and have a look? The discs on my car were pretty corroded and had a big lip of rust around the edge (never been cleaned by the look of it) - going along it with a wire brush did remove the rust. I replaced mine myself with Skoda parts (cost about £140 in parts for all the discs & pads, and took 2 days as I was working out what to do, and retracting the pistons without the correct tool is a pain). The previous owner had 2 sets of pads replaced by National Tyres for £85 ... parts used were Unipart.

Octy discs wont fit without the correct calipers, brackets etc

£100 for rear pads and discs fitted sounds reasonable

the problem with the rear brakes is they do very little so will always start to corrode on the edges
