Anyone use iTunes??

Featured Replies

I need some advice please. I'm trying (in vain) to rip an MP3 CD using iTunes. Now I've never done this before so currently on a journey of discovery. I've copied about half a dozen albums into a playlist (102 tracks, 5.6 hours, 305 MB) and I've altered the preferences so that when I select 'burn disc' it'll save it all in MP3 format...... with me so far.

Ok, so I then insert a blank CDR (TDK CD-R80 700 MB) and select 'burn disc' only to be informed: "None of the items on the playlist can be burned to disc"

Thinking that maybe my CD-RW is knackered I've copied some other Audio files across no problems using Roxio CD-Creator....

Anyone any ideas??

Jimmy, is there a reason you need to use iTunes ?

I find CDex top notch to rip at a high bit rate ... and it's also free to download :)

ps Roxio good at burning but it's poo at ripping IMHO

you'll have to wait for an iTunes guru (some of my mates swear by it too, but most own iPods)

i've been through the learning curve and swear by http://www.download.com/CDex/3000-2140_4-10226370.html?tag=lst-0-1

to rip for my mp3 changer

just personal preference I think :)

what version of iTunes are you using? PC or mac?

PC version....

Are the mp3 files on your computer or ipod? iTunes doesn't like copying directly from an ipod onto cd.

also are they all MP3's or do you have a mixture of AAC files in that playlist?

I've copied the music direct from CD into my playlist in iTunes and they've been stored as MPEG4 format. Now I want to convert to MP3....

Hey Jimmy...You'll have top select them all and convert them to mp3 before they'll burn methinks.

Edited to say: Also, if you ever buy anything from the itunes music store, you will be unable to convert them and burn them as mp3s...damn copyright protection

Cheers

why MPEG4?

Just been into itunes...Change import prefs from AAC to MP3, select all songs, then right click and select convert to mp3...Then make your playlists from the new files...

Hmmm I've selected all the files and there's an option to "convert selection to AAC". Will that work?

Apologies for the numpty q's.....

You need to change your import prefs...Edit menu, Prefs, Importing tab. Change to MP3, and select quality. Should sort you out :)

We are all numpty with something :)

no tar and feathers... we've all been there :)

I've got some itunes scripts for importing mp3's.

hap p ripping Jim :)

No probs Jimmy...it's actually quite a nice programme...plus, if you are networked, you only have to keep your library on one machine. If you leave itunes running on the machine with the songs on, when you run it on another machine on the network, it gives you direct acces to the library on the main machine.

I love iTunes.

It's by far the best MP3 Manager I've ever used. It gets the Names right and it rips and burns quickly too.

does it? how do you do that?

Tried my new MP3 CD in the car this morning and all is tickety boo. Only thing is I copied all my tracks into 1 folder so have to scroll through 90 tracks.... Didn't realise that at the time..... Booger!!

does it? how do you do that?

You first need to set it up to share in the preferences. There is a sharing tab which gives you some options, and allows you to specify a name for the machine, and even a password. After that, just leave itunes running on that machine, and when you run itunes on another machine, the main machines name should be visible in the left-side window somewhere under library...click on it and hey presto, you can browse the main machines tunes.
