Light bulb defect

Featured Replies

I've only had my MY04 Skoda Fabia VRS a week.

But I get the occasional warning light on the dash.

It happens only when the headlights are on, not when side or side+fogs, nor does it happen when indicators or brake lights are on, it doesn't happen when no lights are on.

A few minutes into the journey, with headlights on, a warning beeper sounds, and the

Light bulb defect warning bulb comes on, 30 or so seconds late it goes out. Why? All bulbs seem to be working.

Many thanks

James

Had that every time I washed the car, turnred out to be a faulty front side light bulb (it eventually blew) but everytime the warning light came on the dash all of the lamps were working fine.

I think the bulb detection works on the resistance in the bulb circuits, so a faulty, but working bulb can still trigger the warning.

As moley said. You could remove each of the bulbs, check the contacts have not corroded and replace the bulbs. Just taking out a bulb and refitting it can clear the high resistance contact.

I had a similar problem but the buzzer used to go even when there was no lights on! All bulbs fine, all connections clean and fine!

Drove me mad for weeks!

I took it to the garage where I bought it from as it was still under warranty (after numerous visits to a local VW dealer who couldn't find a fault) and they fixed it somehow via VAGCOM! Thank fook for that!

However, today my screenwash ran out but there should've been a warning buzzer and light for that BUT there wasn't and now I'm thinking what else could they have turned off at the same time!

Good luck getting it sorted out!

how do you change the passenger side bulb? damn batteries there!

there is a small removable panel on the front of the battery holder directly behind the light. If you take it off (flex outwards and pull up past the wiring) you should have enough room to take the light cover off and replace the bulb without removing the battery.
