Xenon autolevelling

Featured Replies

After washing my headlights, which had been dirty for some days, I noticed that they seem lower than usual, basically the edge of the light projected by the left one is about 5-6 meters in front of the car, the right one being a little further. I also changed to 16 inch winter weels recently, that could also have something to do with my perception.

But basically my concern is with the autoleveling of the lights. Where is this located and how does it work. Could it be broken somehow so they're adjusted to the lowest position?

Oh yea, I carried a rather large package on the rear seat yesterday...well, not the actual seat, i moved the seat forward and set it on the actual bodywork under the seats. Since the package was rather large I kind of dragged it around there. Is there something there to break?

There's a sensor on the rear beam under the car which is used for auto-levelling

...and another sensor on the front, hooked between chassis and left control arm

Changing wheels alone would not change the alignment.

If you changed wheels at a tyre shop, could it be that they jacked up the car on the rear torsion beam and messed up your rear suspension angles in addition to headlight alignment?

In the read they jacked it up on the metal support through which the brake (i think) wires are going. It's a metal thingy sticking out towards the ground, they placed the jack on its tip.

But where actually should the beam of light cut off, at what distance from the front of the car?

sounds like they jacked up on the torsion beam... goodbye rear suspension.

what other metal thingy is sticking out of the underbody? Unless they meant the seams, but then description does not fit.

Goodbye rear suspension?! Huh? I attached a picture with the approximate jack point... i haven't managed to find one showing the underside of the car so i could point to the exact thing.

I checked them again today (after washing), they now appear to be fixed, the cutoff distance is double what it was last week. Should I get ready for something failing soon?

not very clear from the pic but i hope to god they didnt jack it up on the rear beam as this would have bent it and you will have 1 x fecked suspension beam....

there is a big sticker on it to tell them this starts with the word WARNING

hopefully its just the jacking point or something else need a better pic buddy

really hope its the later
