What? Leather is only £695.65 in UK? Boah.

Edit: I have to correct me: Full Leather as Upgrade for the Elegance is 1500 listprice.

But there is another option with partly leather for 670 Euro.

The 1500 Euro in Germany are a total Frechheit compared to 700 Pound!

I'd vote for paying extra for neither.I'm from north of Hadrian's Wall but south of the Antonine Wall.;)

My Hyundai Coupe SIII had heated red leather seats which were superbly comfortable all year round .Also drove in shorts in a Spanish summer and they were never more than comfortably warm.

The tinted glass must have kept the IR out. Now - Ambla vinyl seats from the early 70's were very unpleasant in hot weather.

Will try and clear up the different prices for leather here in UK

In GB Pounds with VAT (tax) and before any discount

On Elegance it is £1400 including heated front seats

On VRS full leather is £800 and another £250 for heated seats

Here, the VRS comes as standard with partial leather and Alcantara

Xenons. Much better use if you do lots of night driving.

I chose leather over xenons, I am still not sure whether I should have gone for heated seats too! No doubt the next few months I will know!!

The vRS leather is far better than the leather i had in my old elegance!

Being a shift worker I rely on good lighting, as I can go to work anywhere between 0230-1900 & finish between 1900 & 0230 and at this time of year it's quite possible to go to work in the dark & return home in the dark.

This Golf has Xenon's and they're brilliant, that's why I specified them on the Octavia.

Xenons - because they're ace and leather can be more easily retro-fitted.

Thanks all - very close vote!

Good points made. I would ideally have had both, but had to just go with one so went with leather seats for the following reasons:

- easier to clean/keep clean than the fabric/mesh of standard seats

- look very nice and comfortable (photos posted in another post looked great)

- they'll be used everytime I use the car, whereas Xenons would only get use at night

- I don't do much night driving

Would still love to have Xenons, but can't have everything I suppose!

+ xenons are costly bulbs to replace:eek:

good choice with the leather, transforms the interior!

Good hunting?

You might need a resistor adding Bryan, as the bulb failure system is probably expecting a higher response that it's currently getting with LEDs fitted.

But will last much much longer than halogens

Xenons - £700

Philips XTremes - £24

£700 divided by £24 = 29 pairs of Philips XTremes

You do the maths :)

I hear what you're saying, but it's still not a particularly fair comparison as the output and performance of xenons won't ever be matched by a uprated halogen bulb. The quality and pureness of the light output is superb - 'you get what you pay for' again applies :)

Who pays 700 for new Xenons? Is this the price for new bulbs if you need them for your moon buggy in the copernicus crater?

That's the price Skoda charge to spec them as an optional extra !!

I mean bulb replacements.

Most manufacturers charge about this level, in fact some of the bi-xenon systems are four figures. There's quite a bit to the system then, beyond just the bulbs.

Replacement bulbs are around £100, but defect parts excepted they should really last the life of the car, or at least the ownership period of the average car buyer

£100 for a replacement bulb?! Nearly spat my drink over my screen - I didn't realise they were that expensive!

LOL, if only you knew! That's actually very reasonable...

Try going to the dealer for a replacement and see what they quote :)

 wtf!! And people were actually voting for Xenons over leather?! I'm so glad I don't have to worry about selling a kidney just to buy a bulb :D

Nuff said

As I've said, you're unlikely to ever need to buy a bulb. You might need to start thinking about it in about year 7 of ownership or something!

As ever, 'you pays your money and you takes your choice'. They are very good though and I did miss them when I sold the Fabia. It's just on the 2nd hand market they're usually quite hard to come by - probably because of the points raised already :)

Steve

ppl drive around with 18" rims. beside the loss of comfort they only cost more money than standard 16".

So why do ppl buy 18"?

IMO a "sportscar" like RS is uncomplete without those xenons.
